  • Rural dog-friendly adults-only site in Sherfield English
  • Half an hour's drive from Salisbury and 10 minutes from the New Forest
  • Cosy country pub within a 15-minute stroll
To Hampshire for a holiday in a rather relaxed kid-free spot? Meadow Tree Farm is a nearly-wild site with basic facilities on a working beef farm. Friendly and adults-only, it is spread over 21 acres on the edge of the village of Sherfield English, about 10 minutes' drive from Romsey. There's plenty of space for you (and any doggie companions you may have brought along) to chill out on site and, most importantly, a cosy country pub a gentle 15-minute stroll away. Fishing lakes are next door and there are fab trails for ramblers and cyclists a few miles away in the New Forest National Park. Back at base the laidback vibe is preserved by keeping facilities to a minimum, but the essentials are all in place, including toilets, showers and a washing-up area. Sounds good? You'd better be quick: Meadow Tree Farm is a pop-up site that's only open for a limited amount of time each year.

Electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)

Liked: Incredibly friendly welcome and location.

Disliked: Noise of large group nearby, but in fairness owner quietened them down after 11.30pm. Toilets great, but shower not so. However owner stated they were refurbishing soon.

Electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)

Liked: Loved the wild camping feel in the woodland, not close to anyone else & hook up a massive bonus. Enjoyed the fact campfires are allowed and available to hire. Also dogs are welcome which is a lovely touch. Do not be put off by the first impressions upon arrival. The site is beautiful, quiet and just what we needed this weekend 🫶🏼 Owner is lovely and welcoming.

Disliked: Shower and toilets are obviously older which can be overlooked but were dirty throughout the weekend. Facilities are tired & compared with other sites, cost per night is steep & I would expect a little better. Understand that these will be replaced however a deep clean to remove mud, mould cobwebs and flies and a lick of paint would have made it a tad nicer for guests this year.

Non-electric forest floor tent pitch

Liked: First time visitors to meadow tree farm! I’ve not camped in years so was excited to get out and pitch up. And the site is so so lovely. Very quiet and peaceful. All the other campers were so lovely. The site was nice and clean, everyone had fires in the evening which was so lovely to look across and see them all. My two dogs had the best time! Really looking forward to visiting again!

Disliked: Nothing really to dislike! Does what it says on the tin, facilities are basic but do the job just fine.

For animal antics, Marwell Zoo is also about half an hour away.
