General

  • Glamping site with a wild feel and views of hills and countryside
  • A 20-minute drive to Stratford-upon-Avon and Royal Leamington Spa
  • Each tent is powered; set in a wildlife haven with walks nearby

For a happy medium between back-to-basics camping and a premium getaway, have a hol at Wild Glamping Campsite. This park is made up of a group of handmade bell tents overlooking hills and countryside – book just the one for your family and friends or grab them all and get the whole secluded site to yourself.

With extras on offer, from double mattress upgrades to prosecco delivered in an ice bucket, you can stick to the simple life or go all out on luxury.

Whichever sort of trip you’re after, the surroundings are a highlight here. Lope through the long grass on the lookout for the various creatures that call the rural area home or head a little further afield – there are plenty of local walks to be had, including to Compton Verney House and Art Gallery (half an hour on foot).

Potter to pubs and restaurants in local villages too or drive to destinations like the National Trust’s Charlecote Park (10 minutes) and have historical days out. The site is also 20 minutes from Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon and the striking architecture of Royal Leamington Spa.

Each tent at the park has electricity – so you can keep your gadgets charged up – and there are shared male and female toilet facilities.

The position of the Bells in the field to make the most of the views, was fantastic. Small number of pitches, also meant it was more peaceful and relaxing for a quiet get away. Lovely fairy lighting set the site off from dusk. Luckily we didn't have rain but large communal marque would have offered extra protection from the elements, should the weather have been wilder.

The manager was extremely helpful and friendly. The communication was great. The site had a stunning view and the tent was lovely. There was lots of open space for the kids to play and 2 fire pits that can be shared. This site is in a really great location next to the Compton Verney Gallery/grounds. We camped through storm Francis and the Bell Tent stood up to the winds. There is plenty of free space around the tents with lovely views. The bigger communal tent was a bonus and the loo's were very clean. Andy and James were available during the stay and very helpful with local recommendations for places to visit, eating out and supermarkets.

Lovely campsite with a view overlooking the Compton Verney country house estate.

Tents were spotlessly clean, comfortable with extra touches of a lampshade and fairy lights!

The main marquee had a fridge, microwave, kettle, fresh water and long dining tables so you could cook and shelter if the rain came in!

James was polite, friendly and always on hand if you needed any help. Thanks James!

Local attractions

Sold on stately homes? Head to Charlecote Park (10 minutes’ drive) to check out the National Trust-protected 16th-century country house circled by a deer park and factor in some time for roams on the River Avon. Or investigate the impressive private art collection in Upton House and Gardens, yet another of the area’s eye-catching aristocratic mansions (15 minutes).

If top towns are more your thing, rove around Royal Leamington Spa or the nearby Stratford-upon-Avon (both 20 minutes). The former has the 19th-century colonnade-lined Royal Pump Rooms spa to gaze at, while the latter is known as Shakespeare’s birthplace.

More of a car fan than a history buff? Speed over to the British Motor Museum (15 minutes) and eye up the world’s biggest collection of classic cars from across the UK, numbering more than 300.

Alternatively, seek out small settlements like Moreton-in-Marsh, one of the Cotswolds’ tiny honey-coloured villages (35 minutes), in a pristine area of outstanding natural beauty. If you need to make a trip into a larger city, the centre of Birmingham is a 45-minute drive.

  • Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm (6.6 miles)
