Valley Yurts: In the orchard

General

  • Luxury glampsite with spectacular views of the Welsh countryside
  • Herefordshire Cider Route in 30 minutes; Brecon Beacons in 40 minutes
  • Private firepits, big shared kitchen, woodfired pizza oven, fresh eggs

Fancy dipping into the outdoorsy lifestyle without having to cart a bunch of kit around? Head along to Herefordshire site Valley Yurts, a family-friendly place five minutes’ drive from Gladestry, where guests can get straight into holiday mode with minimal fuss.

Spread across a generous 10 acres, there’s plenty here to explore: it’s a wildlife haven, so keep eyes on the skies and the grass beneath feet when out for wanders, as there may be a red kite or buzzard gliding overhead, or some little critters crossing the path.

There are resident chickens scratching about on site too, so eggy breakfasts are sorted (when the hens are feeling generous), and the yurts have cooking pots, griddles and private firepits for creating alfresco meals. First time cooking outdoors and too scared for a little experimentation with tried and tested home faves? The site team’s more than happy to hand over some simple recipes anyone can try. Not going to plan? Stake out a spot in the communal kitchen or (with a little advance notice) opt for a homemade pizza from the woodfired oven instead.

Each of the hand-crafted yurts is kitted out with swish bedding, a wood-burning stove and solar-powered lighting, plus a central see-through crown for stargazing from your comfy bed. A bathroom block is a short stroll away for toilets, hot showers and a washing-up area.
