Our first camping trip came with a few hitches to …08/09/2022

Our first camping trip came with a few hitches to begin with but the owner (Mark) was extremely helpful & welcoming! I was left on my own with my two children & didn’t have a clue what I was doing but Mark very kindly helped me set up the gas stove when I had bought the wrong things for it.

My kids are a little older but liked the novelty of feeding the animals on the first morning & giving them leaves of their own accord for the rest of the stay. We left a day early due to the extreme heat (& being 7 months pregnant) but all in all, the campsite was small & peaceful. Very much goes back to nature, waking up to fields & animals.

Gorgeous bunny rabbits (one of them is the biggest rabbit I have ever seen!). All the animals have obviously been reared right by the owners as they’re all so friendly & tame. I’m a little jittery around animals that aren’t cats but I had no issues with these ones being around me or the kids!

Very friendly cat on site who loves to invade your space for a 3 hour cuddle on your bed in the morning! Very cute & loves playing in the grass. Kids loved him & always wanted to find & play with him!

Plenty of national trust places around & a few little days out as well. The pub round the corner isn’t even a 5 minute walk. They managed to squeeze us in last minute when my partner managed to get a day off work & come up!

I had no idea what I really needed to take with us but on the site there is a fridge, kettle, toaster & microwave already there which was extremely handy as I was panicky about how I was going to make a cuppa with plugging my kettle in the extension lead I had packed.

The picnic bench we had on our pitch was also very appreciated. We had camping chairs but with the kids eating dinner etc it was nice to have that table!

We have a small tent but there was plenty of room left over to play football & tennis with the kids so the pitch spaces are good sizes.

Communication was very easy & again, very friendly & welcoming. If we decide to come back to Hereford at any point then I would 100% stay again!

    Disliked:

The only issue I found was more personal & that was where our pitch was, we had no shade & being 7 months pregnant & extremely fair skinned, I got sunburnt & there was nowhere by our tent to seek shade. There are a fair amount of trees I could have sat under until it cooled down but I didn’t want to be isolated from the kids who were playing games at our tent.

My own fault for booking 6 months in advance not knowing I was pregnant & not knowing the weather situation! So again, nothing bad about the campsite itself or the owners!

My 3 year old loved watching and stroking the goats, and herding them all back through the fence if they escaped! She hasn't stopped talking about it since we got back.
The site is large and spacious for the few tent pitches that are there, and it's a beautiful, quiet and tranquil place to stay.
The huts themselves are clean and well kept, and it was a lovely touch to have plug sockets, a kettle, crockery/cutlery/mugs, tea and coffee, books and bedding all provided. Couldn't fault them at all!
Washing up area, and communal fridge, microwave and kettle were all great touches too, we were able to freeze some ice packs and water bottles to keep ourselves cool, and have a nice cold drink in the evening.
Location is good too, we visited Queenswood country park for the day, which was a brilliant place, especially in the 30+ degrees heat we were experiencing.
Oh, and of course, the owners were amazing! So friendly and welcoming, even when I managed to lock myself and my toddler out of the hut at 7am and made Mark search for a spare!
    We had an amazing weekend.

Mark (the owner) is super helpful and welcoming and was more than happy to show us around the campsite. They have mini goats, huge lop eared rabbits and ducks in an enclosure and a really friendly cat. Even the animals were chilled out, quiet and friendly. We arrived a bit late so Mark called the pub down the road (The Crown inn) and made sure they had some grub for us. The pub was great and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Everyone we met seemed more than happy to chat or just say hello. This part of the world is a beautiful, picturesque slice of England and we’ll definitely be staying again. I would recommend to anyone wanting a chilled out quiet stay in a lovely part of the world. Looking forward to our next trip back to New Farm campsite and pint of cider at the Crown Inn, Dilwyn.

A small and wecloming site, with good sized pitches that are not on top of eachother. Communications from the owners are good.

Well planned out with good facilities, and lots of small animals in a penned off area including goats, rabbits etc.

The Crown pub is just a couple of minutes walk away and had a very welcoming vibe

Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

    Cheers

    Anthony

Really lovely campsite and the owner was very welcoming, the kids loved feeding the animals. There was only two other tents on the site so it was lovely and quiet and the facilities were very clean.
The location was great too as there is so much to visit around that area.

We were not a fan of the compost toilet especially with having a 3 year old but it didn’t effect our stay!

The Eco loos are quirky aren't they....but good in many ways although I fully appreciate your observations....we keep them clean and the environment green...Tee Hee.....

    Everything! Space, peaceful, Animals!
What a fantastic find this site was, we can’t wait to return. Clean, spacious, peaceful! Helpful owners, lovely area
Only 3 families booked in during our stay so plenty of space, no issues with toilets or getting a shower room. They could easily fit several more tents but aren’t greedy and choose to keep it minimal which gives a better experience for campers and keeps the site peaceful for the neighbours, perfect!
Everything clean and tidy, compost toilets take some getting used to but work as intended. Microwave kettle and fridges available to use. Logs coal etc available for small fee. A couple of benches dotted around and a bbq. Washing up area. Plenty of electric hookups around the site and a tap.
Best bit is the animals!! Goats currently with babies, Indian runner ducks, giant rabbits, sheep and a friendly cat! The kids can go up to the animal enclosures as much as they want and feed them grass and the owner lets them go in the pens with him each morning to feed them and even hold the babies. Mark was fantastic with the children so patient and kind and really got them involved. My son named every animal there and spent most of the time by the pens as did the other kids.
The site is secure and safe for children to run free and enjoy themselves and being in a village it’s quiet and relaxing. Once the kids are in bed the only noise are the birds. No dogs allowed which is an added bonus for us and no barking or dog poo or having to worry about dogs around the kids.
Lovely pub 2 minutes walk away with large beer garden and good food menu.
Morrisons about 10 mins drive away and Leominster town just past that
Not much in Weobley But pretty little village
We will be back very soon, my sons favourite campsite by far
