Fantastic, scenic and well maintained site with facilities. Thumbs up!

Were pleased to read that you enjoyed your time and the facilites at Lakeside Mark. We agree, the surrounding rural countryside is indeed beautiful for both walking and cycling and is teeming with wildlife. As you may have discovered, if you do have transport, we are ideally situated for visits to the moors and the coast, small market towns and the city of York but, should you need transport, regular buses run daily to Malton and York from Castle Howard garden centre which is just over a mile away. Connectivity can be tricky depending on your network but guests also comment on how relaxing this can be. Thank you for taking the time to write your review and we hope to see you again. |

Dear David, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are naturally sorry that you didn't enjoy your visit to Lakeside as our team always do their best to help and accomodate our guests. We're glad that you approved of the facilities and enjoyed your fish and chips. We feel we need to clarify the situation. Your booking, made just two days before your visit, through Pitch Up will have shown that only one night was available before you paid. At this time of year, our weekends book up well in advance, especially Saturday nights. Therefore we recommend that in future you please check your booking confirmation in advance as it clearly stated one night. As you booked with Pitch Up, any system email would have come from them so in future it would be best to call Pitch Up to check your booking if you receive such an email as hoping to fix it on the day is not always possible. Our receptionist noted on your booking, that she had spoken to you whilst you were on your way to let you know what to do on arrival as reception would be closed so you were made aware that reception is not open for late arrivals. She checked your pitch on Saturday, near departure time, and it was empty; she was not to know that you had gone out for the day, nor that you intended to return thinking you had booked two nights. It was only when the guests arrived later in the day that the problem was recognised as they found you already parked on their pitch. Our receptionist came to speak with you but unfortunatley we had nothing to offer you other than an electric grass pitch, or the camping field. We did everything we could to help you but we hope you realise the mistake was not ours. |

Thanks for your review. It sounds like you had a lovely time. Do come back again... perhaps for a little stargazing in our 'dark skies' area? |

Thanks for taking the time to review Lakeside Gary. It sounds like the campsite and our team were to your liking. It's a shame that, on this occasion, the rare wedding fireworks disturbed some of our campers, although others were very pleased with the display. Do come again. |

Hello Jaye. We're glad you liked the site, the lake really is lovely, and thank you for your time and comments which are appreciated. We are sorry to hear you were woken by 8am. Campers can often be early risers. We hope if you visit again you find a quieter spot. |
Thank you for taking the time to review Lakeside, it is good to hear that the team were friendly and helpful. You booked a hardstanding pitch on gravel but I can see that we accomodated your request for a quiet pitch due to your nervous dog. Being in a corner you were luckily able to utilize the grass area which on the majority of hardstanding pitches is officially the firebreak however I will pass your comments to the marketing team to suggest that, if bringing an awning or tent to a gravel pitch, hardstanding pegs will be required.
At the time of your visit, after a few weeks of lovely weather, the ground was hard all over the site which, whilst not ideal, is to be expected.
Regarding the rubbish you will be pleased to hear that our local rubbish depot is a state-of-the-art facility that does all the recyling for us, it even runs on waste food. Only glass has to be separated. Our 'FAQ's, which can be found on our booking page prior to booking, state that there is no wi-fi and that dogs are required to stay on their leads.
Positioned in such a beautiful rural area we have lots of wildlife to consider and naturally insects are part and parcel of this kind of environment. Mosquito repelant or citronella candles can help unwanted bugs. We're not sure why you felt that we were more focused on the holiday homes which are in a different area but our guests are all important to us whether they are visiting their private holiday homes, staying in the holiday cottages or visiting our touring site and I know our team do their very best to keep everyone happy.
