General
- Well-maintained and peaceful family site with Slovenian Alps views
- 20 minutes’ drive to Ljubljana Castle, and 45 minutes to Lake Bled
- Rural pitches, bar and football-golf, near BTC City Ljubljana shops
Set in tree-shaded fields and backed by the jagged Slovenian Alps, Camping at Nogometni Golf Ljubljana has a wonderfully secluded vibe – and yet it’s just 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre and all its amenities, so you can choose between busy sightseeing days or trips out into the bracing mountain air.
After you’ve explored the site and set up on your spacious grass pitch, one thing you’ll probably want to do at this peaceful, family-friendly site is challenge the kids to a game of football-golf, a hybrid sport played on an 18-hole course surrounded by trees.
Tucked away among those trees is a simple wooden bar with terrace views over the neat gardens. Other straightforward facilities include outdoor showers, a toilet block and chargers for your devices.
You can pick up pretty much anything you need to keep the family fed and watered at sprawling BTC City Ljubljana shopping mall, only five minutes away – and it’s also got a food court, a multiplex cinema and a bowling alley if you fancy a change of pace. Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is only half an hour away too, so it’s really easy to get to the campsite.

Local attractions
Ljubljana Castle (20 minutes’ drive) sits in a hill overlooking the city, and is an obvious place to kick off a day’s sightseeing – walk up there or get the funicular. After that, take in a couple of the museums and wander cobbled streets lined with brightly painted Baroque-era churches and houses. Then you can put your feet up in a café on the Ljubljanica riverside and tuck into local "bleki" pasta dishes and apple dumplings for dessert.
If the kids have behaved on your day in the city, let them run off energy on the rope courses and treetop trails in Pustolovski park Geoss (35 minutes). Other great options are Vodno mesto Atlantis (five minutes) with lazy river rides and paddling pools for younger kids, and Ljubljana Zoo (15 minutes), which holds seal-feeding sessions and animal safaris.
There are plenty of hiking trails and bike routes to get you out into the mountains. Beautiful Lake Bled (45 minutes) is circumnavigated by paths, and you can catch a wooden boat to a little island and its church.
