Yup, that Monza – the one Formula 1 fans will no doubt have seen on the telly many times over the years. It’s a cinch to visit the circuit in real life if you’re staying at Monza Camping, for it’s pretty much right next door. There’s way more to Monza than merely motorsport, though: stay here and you’ll be within the walls of the Royal Park of Monza, a short amble from a riding school, a golf course, an adventure park and guided tours of the swish Villa di Monza. There are loads of scenic walks and bike rides to be had in the park for serenity seekers, while those who prefer urban wanderings can hit central Milan by public transport in less than an hour. Wherever you’ve roamed by day, easy refuelling awaits on site at the bar-restaurant where you can have dinners of burgers or grilled fish, or sip cold beers out on the terrace. Further restaurants and cafés are a short walk away, as is a supermarket for those who need barbecue bits and other supplies.

Local attractions

Wander out into the park from your pitch and you’re within easy reach of walking trails, riverside bike rides, a golf course, a riding centre and the treetop trails of the Monza Adventure Park. Tours are available at the motor racing circuit and Villa di Monza, and there are frequent music festivals and other events around the park. For town times, a bus can whisk you to the historic centre of Monza in around half an hour, or to Milan in just under an hour for museums, gorgeous architecture, excellent restaurants and perhaps just a little bit of shopping. If you’re lusting after lakeside days, Bellagio and Como are both less than an hour away by car. Those with bambini to keep busy may like to consider days out at Acquaworld waterpark or the Leolandia amusement park, both of which are within a half-hour drive.

Liked: Das Bistro, leckeres Essen zu adäquaten Preisen. Der Stellplatz war einigermaßen eben und schattig. Ebenso die Verkehrsanbindung für unseren Ausflug nach Mailand. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Disliked: Der Straßenlärm, wir hatten wohl ein wenig Pech in der Nacht waren mehrere Notensätze für den Krankenwagen mit Martinshorn nötig. Wir sind Google Maps gefahren von der Schweiz auskommend, wir wurden durch einige Wohngebiete geschickt, das war Mist! Später haben wir festgestellt das es eine Hauptstraße direkt dorthin gegeben hätte. ACHTUNG: Google schickt dich über eine Telepassstrasse , also bitte darauf achten. Mit einer App und Visa oder ähnlichen Karten kann man das recht gut lösen.

Liked: Near the racetrack but you can’t see anything and they do not offer tickets to view the track. It was 40mins drive to Milan

Disliked: Unfortunately this site was a huge let down. The pool was empty, the climbing is only available at certain times of the year, check in is NOT all day, and the staff are very unhelpful. Pitches are difficult to navigate and people tend to setup anywhere making it difficult to get out. The restaurant is separate to the camping and the food is awful. Overall a terrible, overpriced site.

Liked: Friendly staff who spoke English very well. Affordable prices at the restaurant on site. Probably the perfect spot to watch Formula 1 when in season. Beautiful park right outside.

Disliked: Bathrooms were missing toilet paper in the afternoons/evenings. And there’s no place to hang your clothes while taking a shower without it all getting wet.
