- Well-furnished yurts at a small site just outside Bannost-Villegagnon
- A half-hour drive from Disneyland Paris; around an hour from Paris
- Trampoline, treehouse, swings and farm animals on site
You may well find that you’d like to settle Chez Jo et Mel for quite some time… for the lodgings at this splendid little Seine-et-Marne spot just outside Bannost-Villegagnon are comfy, peaceful and well-placed for all sorts of family outings.
To the accommodation first: guests here stay in traditional Mongolian yurts that are kitted out with lots of colourful furnishings, a woodburning stove and sleeping space in the form of a large double bed and a sofa bed. Outside is a decked area with seating and a dedicated space for a campfire (where you can also have a go at cooking over flames if you wish), and there’s an amenities area nearby with kitchen facilities, toilet, shower and private washbasin.
The site’s garden stretches out to a generous 2500 square metres, with fab views over the surrounding countryside and often some pretty spectacular sunsets too. If that’s not the sort of thing that gets the nippers all excited, perhaps instead they’ll favour some time playing on the swings or trampoline, climbing up into the treehouse or meeting the friendly animals on site (goats, ducks and a dog).
And those outings? Well, they might take you to Disneyland Paris with a drive of half an hour or so, or beyond to the streets of Paris in around an hour…

Local attractions
Once you’ve met the animals on site, head off to catch their more exotic cousins at Le Parc des Félins (15 minutes’ drive), an animal park that looks after all sorts of big cats including snow leopards and white tigers.
Somewhat different animals (life-sized celebrity mice and dogs for example) roam around Disneyland Paris (half an hour). It’s worth planning as long a day as you can here, such is the range of rides and shows to take in at Europe’s most-visited theme park.
Paris, a little over an hour’s drive away, needs little introduction of course – you could easily fill many an hour here wandering around the museums, taking in famed landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame cathedral or gliding along the Seine on a boat tour. If you fancy something on a smaller scale, take the 20-minute drive to Provins to wander around the UNESCO-listed medieval centre: it’s packed with half-timbered houses and underground passageways and boasts a whopping 58 listed historical monuments.
