  • Peaceful and dog-friendly shaded site a few metres from Lake Vesoul
  • Five minutes’ walk to a water park; cycle paths and sailing nearby
  • Rosalie bike hire and a restaurant and bar outside of the entrance
Rosalie bike rides and sailing ventures are some of the ways to unwind around Camping Vesoul. With the entrance to the site a few metres away from the shore of Lake Vesoul, here you’ll be well-set for a splashing time, with a peaceful, shaded site as your base… equal parts fun and relaxing. So, grab a Rosalie pedal bike from the hire shack outside the entrance and take a peaceful loop of the lake or stop by the Ludolac water park five minutes’ walk away for a splashing time on the waterslides or in the outdoor pools. There are sailing boats or pedalos for hire around the lake when you want to get out on the water itself. If any of that sounds like thirsty work, then you’ll be happy to learn that there’s a bar and restaurant outside of the site entrance. There are plenty more places for a foodie pitstop on your way into the centre of Vesoul, which is just over half an hour’s walk away, or more restaurants with splendid lake views along the shore. The young and old should have plenty to do around this place, whether it’s following local cycle paths, checking out the views from the top of La Motte (40 minutes’ walk away) or taking a hot air balloon journey (there’s an operator just outside of Vesoul, around 10 minutes’ drive away). Barbecues have the green light back on site, so you could grab all your buns, burgers and such things from one of the shops a short walk away from the site on your way back.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked: Lovely lake walk and helpful friendful staff

Disliked: There is confusion with the name on googlemaps and signage. The campsite is in Vesoul, but is not called camping Vesoul. It took us a while at the end of a long day to find the reception.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked: Brilliant helpful staff at reception. This site was super hot, daily temperature was around 40 degrees so the thankfully staff only were giving out pitches with lots of shade. Older facilities but clean and . Beside the site is a massive lake, during our visit the water was green and a bit weedy, but it didn't smell or be unpleasant in any way. Swimming was a welcome relief to the heat. Cold water beach showers are on hand to wash off after your swim.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked: - pitches were big. - the children’s playgrounds were great. - direct access to lake/beach. - level pitches. - lots of kid’s activities available, e.g. ping pong tables, playgrounds, volleyball net, zipwire, dance activity.

Disliked: - nothing around, no shops etc, isolated location. One restaurant next door. - toilets and showers were average. - the lake was green and very weedy.

Liked: Location right by the lake! Big pitches ! Lake was fun, we rode around on hired bikes, kayak (our own) on the lake! Boys fished (€10 each person per day).

Disliked: Showers (men’s) could do with a modern fit! Too much weed in the lake!

Local attractions

With Vesoul’s pretty medieval centre and the streets of La Motte a prime example of the historic buildings in the town, scenic wanders are pretty easy from this site. You could stop by the town’s museum, Musée Georges-Garret (half an hour’s walk), to learn about art and archaeology or just potter around the many shops and cafés in Vesoul. For walks that will challenge you a little more, Parc naturel régional des Ballons des Vosges (around 45 minutes’ drive to the edge of the park) has all sorts of landscapes and the active pursuits that go along with this type of place, from hiking and mountain biking to watersports on the lakes that are deeper in the park. The history buffs in your group might want to take the drive down to the Saline Royale d'Arc-et-Senans (an hour and 10 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has a long history and architectural past, with activities and events that often take place on the grounds.
