It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site in the Périgord, 15 minutes from Périgueux
- Pool, playground, games room and snack bar
- Summer music evenings with mussels and chips
Theme parks of all flavours, rides and amusements and – how the kids will love this – history of all ages is within your adventurous and sightseeing reach at this family site in the Dordogne: Camping au Fil de l'Eau is a paltry 15 minutes' by car from the excellent old sights of Périgueux, and within driving distance of most amusing days out at regional family and amusement parks.
Leisurely options on site include an outdoor pool for grownups and a paddling pool for tiddlers, in a scenic aquatic area surrounded by deckchairs. Kids can keep their excitable holiday selves occupied at the playground, in the games room or by borrowing board games and books from reception, before honing their pétanque or table tennis skills to properly challenge the grownups.
Regular traditional music evenings with mussels and chips are held in high season. A local farmers' market also sets up on site in the summer months, and a snack bar is ready to dish out ice cream, cold drinks and light bites. Bread and pastries can be ordered from here and are delivered freshly baked each morning.
Et finally, if you're not a French native, this is the place to practise and parlez your français, as not much English is spoken at the site: depending on your language level, this could be a source of great amusement for the kids too.

Local attractions
Local town Antonne-et-Trigonant, within easy walking distance, has access to the Isle river on one side and the Lanmary forest on another, for days of riverside and woodland walks, boat trips and cycling. You can take to the Dordogne river via canoe or kayak too (kayaks can be hired on site).
Hikers have two paths to pick from in town: the GR 36, linking Ouistreham on the Normandy coast all the way down to Bourg-Madame on the Spanish border, and the GR 646, a rather more restful path running from St-Mesmin to Rougerie St Astier. The latter is only 117 kilometres if you don't fancy hiking all the way to Spain…
As the kids might say pah to all that, take them out on a Dordogne amusement park day, like to the living village of Le Bournat, within 40 minutes' drive; Jacquou Parc, half an hour away at Le Bugue, or La Foret des Ecureuils Adventure Park for tree climbing, ziplining and paintballing, an hour and 10 minutes away. They should also like the falconry displays at Château des Milandes, or going underground at the spectacular and world-famed caves of Lascaux and Villars, all within easy day trip distance.
The pretty town of Brantôme, scenically set on the Dronne river, is within half an hour's drive.
