Covert Farm Camping: Electric pitch

General

  • Small peaceful wildlife haven within easy reach of famed beaches
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Folly Farm
  • Clean showers and toilets; campfires and barbecues allowed

Hide away here for as long as you can manage. Covert Farm Camping is a family-run haven next to a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a wide variety of birds and wildlife living among reeds and trees… and it's only 10 minutes' drive from this splendid spot to the spectacular Pembrokeshire coast.

The owners have set the site up to be a peaceful getaway for guests who want to unwind in a wildlife haven. The farm is surrounded by fields for leisurely walks away from roads too, and a huge amount of family days out are close by: Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches, Heatherton, Folly Farm and Manor Wildlife Park are all within 15 minutes' drive.

Gratified former guests have approved most fervently of this lovely little site, hailing the friendly team, the spotless amenities and the setting among other aspects. Campfires are encouraged too as long as they're in firepits: these are available for hire, along with firelighters, logs and kindling to buy.

The toilet and shower block has hot running water and washing-up facilities.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests must bring their own duvets, pillows, sheets and towels when staying in rental accommodation. You will not be allowed to stay if you do not bring these items.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 6 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

The toilet facilities are closed until May 17, 2021. Guests will need to use their own facilities.

The shower facilities are closed until May 17, 2021. Guests will need to use their own facilities.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

From the manager...

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your review.

Apologies we didn't get to point out the location of the bins to you. Due to the Covid-19 situation we had to move the bins to the front of the farm into a bigger and more spacious area. Here we have recycling and general waste facilities.

In addition to the stone tracks that were already on site, we've actually added more stone tracks and even some hardstanding pitches for the 2021 season to make it easier for our guests in extreme weather conditions.

Many thanks,
Covert Farm Camping

    - Very helpful owner and staff:
    1) Before arrival, we have been well communicated that the possible change of electric pitch to non-electrical one due to wet pitch caused by the storm. The weather turns out to be our side and eventually the electrical pitch is dry enough to pitch on.
    2) Very warm welcome on arrival and introduction of interesting sites nearby the pitch site.
    3) The own very kindly lend us her spare iphone charger as we forgot to bring one and save us the rest of our trip planning.

    - Excellent location: very short driving distance to most beaches, trails, big supermarket and etc.

    - Very quiet site: during our stay, all the guests have been observed the rule of quiet time and have the best sleep quality so far in this year's camping at 5 different sites.

The site - it was quiet, beautiful and a haven for birds. The birdsong both morning and evening was glorious.
We quite liked the fact that because of the heavy rain a couple of days before and the wet entrance to the field, we had to take our stuff across to our pitch by wheel barrow and leave the car in a car park a very short distance away.
It was lovely having no cars on the field.
The showers were hot. Good washing facilities.

Excellent small, friendly and quiet site, overseen by the indomitable Francis and her boys. I have never camped somewhere where the owner has expressed such genuine concerned for the welfare of their guests. Francis is super friendly, with excellent local knowledge and full of recommendations of things to do. The facilities comprise of clean, well stocked toilets and clean showers with plentiful hot water. Just how you would want it in these Covid times.

    Disliked:

It was very quiet when we stayed, during storm Francis, but if busy the pitches were slightly closer than expected.

Local attractions

No more than 15 minutes' drive (handy if you have less-than-patient kids) will take you to an excellent range of family and sandy days out near the farm: take your pick from beach and paddling days, boat trips, wildlife adventures, amusement parks, castles… and a dinosaur park.

Saundersfoot (10 minutes' drive away) is, along with Tenby, one of the most visited holiday spots in Wales, home to an award-wining beach and the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. Another award-wining beach is at Tenby, along with the ruins of Tenby Castle, boat trips to Caldey Island and the Tenby Dinosaur Park.

Two other famed Pembrokeshire theme parks are also within 10 minutes: Heatherton World of Activities and Oakwood Theme Park. Most kids should also clamour for a day at Manor House Wildlife Park, the only walking safari in Wales and home to exotic and endangered animals from around the world.

Then try and get your small sorts interested in a spot of history with ventures to Carew and Pembroke castles each within 10 minutes' drive: these are so splendid it might be easier than you think…
