  • Small rural site on an 11-acre farm, half a mile from Dihewyd
  • Motorbiker friendly and specialist groups welcome
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast at Aberaeron and Cardigan Bay
Motorbikers – Maesymeillion Farm is the place for you. As it is for mountain bikers, hardy hikers, birdwatchers, horse riders, fell runners, swimmers and adventure seekers… as the friendly team point out, the farm is very much an excellent base for outdoor adventures of all sorts. After a slower pace of life? No problem. More placid pursuits are easily pursued too, as Maesymeillion Farm is in prime position for dolphin spotting and beach days around the Cardigan coast: the seaside town of Aberaeron and the wildlife haven of Cardigan Bay are 15 minutes’ drive away. And for those guests who like hols to be so laidback as to be almost horizontal, even more placid times are easily had on site, as this is a top stargazing spot too and in a setting of spectacular views across land and sea. The farm welcomes everyone from solo travellers to families to motorbike groups – and dogs. It’s a peaceful place to come back to after a day out and about, set rurally in a quiet area on 11 acres of land at 1,000 feet above sea level. Although it’s lushly remote, the farm has easy access to main roads and is only half a mile from its local village of Dihewyd; Lampeter is 20 minutes’ drive away. Amenities on site include showers, toilets, disabled facilities, a washing-up area, chemical disposal and free wifi. Barbecues and campfires are allowed.

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite (large)

Liked: Absolutely fantastic site, the owners were lovely and very welcoming, personally showed us around the site, gave us a food waste bin and showed us where all the water taps were, toilets, bins, communal kitchen which was stocked full of all the utensils needed, large table to host games and drinks etc. initially we struggled getting our electric to work and they kindly came to help and got us up and running. In ghe morning the owners were wandering round checking in on everyone making sure everyone was okay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike!

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked: Nice open spaces, good location Staff accommodating and friendly

Disliked: Very noisy site with lots of screaming kids, loud music until late. Toilets clean but basic, but showers flooded them multiple times a day.

Book to stay as long as you can, for there’s loads to do around here and the farm team can happily point you in the right direction for most activities. Whatever you opt for, head coastwards for at least one day, for the seaside towns, sands, surfing, fishing and dolphin-spotting boat tours of Aberaeron and New Quay, 15 and 20 minutes’ drive away. Other local beaches to thoroughly investigate include Cwmtydu, Penbryn and Trysyth/Tresairth, all within 30 minutes, and spectacular Poppit Sands, 45 minutes away on the Teifi estuary. For town sightseeing and shopping, have a day at Lampeter (20 minutes), Cardigan (40 minutes) or Machynlleth, an hour and five minutes away.
