  • Clifftop site with stunning sea views out towards Cardigan Bay
  • Under 15 minutes' drive from Aberystwyth
  • Outdoor heated pool, playground and games lounge
What a beaut. And it's an award-winner too: carve out as much time as you can to stay at Morfa Bychan Holiday Park, on a Ceredigion clifftop overlooking stunning Cardigan Bay. As you'll see from the pics, spectacular sea views are all around here, so you can be basking among these Welsh coast views as soon as you arrive (barbecues are allowed for those who prefer to bask among coastal views while their other half preps the alfresco eats). Beach access is a cinch too, as famed seaside resort of Aberystwyth is within six miles, and the park has direct access to its own pebble beach for shore walks, fishing, boating, rockpooling and surfing. There's loads of room for kids to run around on the park and on the beach; should they inexplicably tire of this, take them along to Morfa's pirate ship play area to swashbuckle and swing. The heated outdoor summer pool and spacious grassy area alongside are other popular family spots, as is the games lounge with board and computer games, TV, pool tables and air hockey. The friendly team are on hand to help with whatever you might need, whether it's assistance in getting set up when you arrive or sharing their tips on the (many) top places to make for in the region. There's a stack of tourist info at the site reception to aid your decision-making further and give you something to read while your other half sorts out the coffee…

Liked: Beautiful scenery, very clean facilities, staff were lovely, site is well maintained and pitches are level! Really lovely stay!

Disliked: Shop has very limited items, closest shops are a 10 minute drive away so just make sure you’re stocked up :)

From the manager: Thank you for leaving your review, the first of 2024. Our wardens have worked really hard to get things tidy and ready for theis seasons opening, a little earlier than usual. Our park shop as you mention is a basics shop, we try to stock those forgotten items, milk, bread, tea and coffee. Once we get some more visitors next week onwards we will get the ise cream freezers filled in readiness for that long hot summer !!

Liked: Clean site , friendly staff.

Disliked: Leaving shoes outside in the rain outside the shower block , could do with a cabernet ,or a box to them in .

From the manager: Thank you for leaving your review of your stay with us. A little bemused why you left your shoes/footwear outside in the rain ?? Surely you would have entered the washroom before taking shoes off to shower ?? Have you got the right park? we have not asked anyone to take off shoes before entering the building as we regularly mop the floor during our checks.

Liked: Well looked after park and level pitches.

Disliked: Pitchup.com says that you need to arrive by 7pm and so did the booking e-mail from Morfa Bychan Holiday park, so i left in a time to arrive around 5 or 6pm but had a phone call from the park at 14:10 so stopped and phoned them back, they asked what time i would arrive, i explained it would be around 5pm but said that it does state to arrive by 7pm they said its different in the winter (off season) so ended up rushing to get there. went swimming with the kids at just after 4pm as on the welcome pack, website, welcome e-mail and permanent signage on the gate to the swimming pool it states 5pm closes, at 4:30 one of the staff came in to say it was closing, i asked why as its open to 5pm, but apparently that's not in off season, so me and my 2 children had 2 mins of time in the pool. I have knocked off 2 points one for each of those as both are important and easy to be fixed.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, although a surprise to read. Our wardens will always call our customers prior to leaving for the day to see if they need to hang about in the reception to help our arrives or come back later to accept a late arrival, our latest arrival time is 7pm at this time of year. Our swimming pool all year has an opening by 10am and close by 5pm, as the nights are drawing in and it is dark by 5pm it makes sense to start the close procedure at 4:30 so all can be checked and put away in safety, our signage by the pool at the changing area and washrooms lets all customers know that we will be packing the pool away at 4:30 to be closed by 5pm. Many apologies for the over zealous wardens who seem to have mis judged this situation with poor results.

Peregrine FHU cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked: Excellent site with good facilities. Super views.

Disliked: Only spoiled by the nightmarish one and a half mile single track road leading to it. Heaven help you if a tractor appears. More waste bins needed

From the manager: Thank you for your remarks following your recent stay with us. One of the reasons we highlight our arrival and departure times is to deal with the 2 1/2 mile access lane to get to the park lane. As all of our neighbours including farmers know our times we are confident that most of our guests who heed the directions do not have an issue. There are times when motorhomes and even cars towing touring caravans have solely relied upon their satnav and ignored the park instructions and have driven to us on the 1 1/2 mile lane marked as light traffic only from the main road. Thankfully most people research prior to setting off and enjoy the whole of their stay

Route directions

When coming from the Midlands stay on the A44 all the way into Aberystwyth. Ignore the satnav trying to direct you through Devil's Bridge (narrow lanes). When travelling from Aberystwyth, follow A487 direction Towing. In a large vehicle, ignore the satnav until you drive through the village of Blaenplwyf then take the well-signposted lane to the park. Light vehicles can use the first turning.

Local attractions

The Wales Coast Path runs through the park and is easily accessible via kissing gates. The path runs for a whopping 870 miles from Chepstow in the south to Queensferry in the north: potter the few miles to Aberystwyth and then – for the energetic – hike further for 10 miles on the linked Ceredigion Coast Path to its finishing point at Ynyslas. Aberystwyth, 15 minutes' drive away, has stacks to do in and out of peak season, including a harbour to wander around, the National Library of Wales and the Aberystwyth Arts Centre for indoor days, and a buzzing nightlife with pubs, gigs and eateries aplenty. The same distance in the other direction will land you at Llanrhystud, a popular spot in summer for beaches, watersports and fishing. Nature spotting and birdwatching are easily accessed in the area too, either under your own steam or via a dolphin and seal safari trip around Cardigan Bay. Ensure your marine mammal sightings – recommended if you possess fractious offspring – with a trip to the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre at New Quay; boat trips can be booked from here too.
