Hot tub view

General

  • Pods on a working farm in a valley near Lampeter
  • Private trout fishing lake
  • Hot tub with spectacular Welsh countryside views

What could possibly be better than toasting in a hot tub with views of your private trout fishing lake and of the cracking Welsh countryside, on a site with camping pods so classy they have their own heated towel rails?

Perhaps a glass of wine on the patio beside the hot tub while the kids are otherwise occupied at the outdoor play area or bouncing on the trampoline? Taking a kayak or boat out on the lake? Dolphin spotting from the cracking coast of Cardigan Bay five miles away? Have the lot, why not, at Cwmcoedog Farm in Ceredigion, a working farm in a wooded valley near the town of Lampeter.

The posh pods at Cwmcoedog Farm all have electricity, heating and a firepit, plus access to a smart bathroom pod with shower, loo and washing facilities (please note you'll need to bring along bedding, towels and whatever kit you need for cooking and eating). A pizza oven, microwave, kettle and disposable barbecues are on hand to help create meals and drinks, and podders can also use the laundry room with washer/dryer, drying area and secure bike storage.

No sunshine some day? No problem: the laundry room doubles as a games room for playing pool, darts and table tennis, having a natter with other guests about your west Wales plans, or telling all and sundry how much you like bubbling in the hot tub…

We were provided with really clear directions as the location is remote, so it was easy to find. We were completely left to ourselves which was lovely; a great escape! The hot tub is easy to reserve and use. It is kept super clean and is within covid guidelines. The pod itself was clean and warm, comfortable to sleep in, and dry. We had a really fun time on the boating lake. Private bathroom for your group only is very pleasant, safe and convenient. The toilet is so much nicer than most camp sites

    Disliked:

Some instructions on how to use the pizza oven and outdoor heaters in the sitting area would be nice as we couldn't work them and there was nobody around to ask. The website or welcome pack did not say that we would need to bring our own bedding, as some of the more expensive pods had bedding and ours didn't. We had to go and buy a duvet in a nearby town which could have been avoided by a notice on the website

From the manager...

Thank you for your lovely review.
We do state in the pictchup site that linen / towels are not provided. it is under the description of the pods and what is available in the pods. I am sorry that you had to go and buy your linen - if you had contacted us we could have provided you with linen . We are also available on the farm if you needed instructions on how to light the pizza oven - as kindling and wood is provided and fire lighters. The heaters are also switched on by the electric switch. Hope you will come again. x .

This farm has everything you’ll need! We stayed in a pod and it’s the second time we’ve stayed in a few years. The pods are cosy and have a towel rail and plugs which are super helpful. The shower pods are also cosy and well equipped. There is a communal fridge, microwave and kettle - the fridge was super handy for us!
Each pod has a fire pit, we used ours for a BBQ which was amazing. There’s also a shared eating area with a wood fired pizza oven - amazing!
The hot tub is the best feature and is now covid safe by there being an easy booking system - fair for all.
The views are unbeatable and the sheep and donkeys are so lovely to wake up to! Thank you for having us - I am sure we will be back!

Truly fabulous place. This was our third visit and with every one the place only gets better.
The lack of signal/Wi-fi is very welcome, it gets the kids (and parents) back to basics , enjoying family activities, creating their own entertainment instead of being glued to their phones all day.
Lovely and clean as always, Arwel, Neris & are wonderful hosts, Sally the corgi pup was a particular hit..!!
We will definitely be back next year.

Everything is to like in this outstanding glamping location. The pods are very comfortable. There are two luxury ones and 3 standard ones. We stayed in one of the standard ones. There is plenty to keep you busy in the campsite: kayaking in the lovely lake, jumping in the trampoline, playing football, using the kids park, giving it a go at the hot tub... The pods come with a fire pit and grill and there is a common pizza oven. The place is lovely, the views idilic, the facilities spark clean. I do not have enough good adjectives to describe this place. You should definitely try it!

Local attractions

Most holidaymakers who come to this smashing part of Wales do so for the Cardigan Bay coast and New Quay, famous for its bottlenose dolphins and the Ceredigion Coast Path with beach, cliff, bay and seaside village landscapes.

Start off at New Quay’s Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre to immerse yourself in facts about the area and to sort boat trips into the bay to see the seals, dolphins and porpoises visible here; guaranteed sightings are along the other direction of the coast at the island nature reserve Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park (where you’ll also see a wallaby and a few Vietnamese pigs).

Hiking and biking are also the order of the day around here: as well as the coast path, Ceredigion has an extensive network of walking and cycling paths for all abilities. From Lampeter, a cycle path goes coastwards through the Aeron Valley to the seaside town of Aberaeron; stop off en-route for a look at the riverside eighteenth century mansion Llanerchaeron, now managed by the National Trust.

There are woodland routes around Lampeter for walkers and horse riders, with more through south Ceredigion to rhyd around Rhydlewis, and canters/strolls along the Nant Seilo valley south of Penrhyncoch.

Blue Flag beaches such as Mwnt, Llangranog and Penbryn abound along the west Wales coast, with more watersports, fishing and many more active options to hand at the two national parks within an hour’s drive: Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire Coast.

Head for the River Teifi and the Teifi Valley for canoeing and fishing respectively, and try Brechfa Forest for off-road cycling for all abilities.

Or trip to one of west Wales’s well-known visitor attractions: any mini podder in your party will have fun at award-winning Folly Farm about an hour away in Pembrokeshire, and panning out the options at Dolaucothi Gold Mines. We have a sneaking suspicion they’ll be up for a day of white knuckle rides at Narbeth’s Oakwood Theme Park or having a stonkosaurus time at Tenby’s Dinosaur Park too…

As with the rest of Wales, this corner of the country is packed with historic highlights from castles to country houses to Iron Age forts; if you like your historic trips steamy, try the Gwili Railway near Carmarthen or the Teifi Valley Railway in Henllan near Newcastle Emlyn.
