Woods, a stream and a lake. Check. Forest rambles and beaches within half an hour. Check. Hot tubs, pizza ovens, heated pools... Is this place for real? Yes, it's Rivendell.

Rivendell is a clothing-optional resort in a secluded woodland spot by a stream and lake, within half an hour's drive of the New Forest and the seaside towns of Poole and Bournemouth.

The site has a mix of forest and open space for accommodation and activities, and everyone has access to the covered and heated pool and the hot tub. There's a bar next door to the pool for sunset drinks and if that's still not relaxing enough, massage and beauty treatments are also on offer.

In case you thought the comfort and the attention to detail couldn't reach every nook and cranny, the washrooms and showers are as tiptop as everywhere else, with toiletries provided.

Guests are welcome to stay at Rivendell with or without their clothes on.

Please note

I Liked the relaxed atmosphere of the camp, being adults only meant total peace and quiet. The owners went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The tents are in a beautiful, secluded wooded area and camping under the tree's watching squirrels scampering along the branches was incredibly relaxing. We really enjoyed the facilities particularly the sauna and poolside bar! The wonderfully scented soaps and lotions in the shower room were a lovely finishing touch.
I would definitely visit again and stay longer next time.

Beautiful location. Friendly crowd and owners. Great positive environment. Amazing company all round and very well run by Keri and Andy. We felt welcomed and well looked after. Very clean facilities with up to date showers and toilet block. Great accommodation for a quick break from a busy London city. Cannot recommend it enough. We will be making this our frequent spot!!!! Both summer and winter breaks. Great community!

Andy and Kerry went out of their way to make us feel extremely welcome and were very accommodating from the start of our stay, indeed nothing was too much trouble.

The pictures on here do not do the site justice, the gardens are amazing, and can even be enjoyed via the large picture window in the sauna.

We stayed in a “Bell Tent” which had a very comfortable bed, and it certainly was not cold.

Overall the site and facilities were all of an excellent spec, and well maintained. The inclusion Bramley shampoo/bodywash products in the shower was a nice touch to add to that spa retreat feel. Just what we needed! Would recommend to everybody!

Local attractions

Half an hour's drive away, Poole has plenty to offer for day trippers, with its sandy beaches, handsome Old Town and harbour area; it's also where you catch boat trips out to Brownsea island, a wooded sanctuary teeming with wildlife. If this has given you a taste for seafaring, take a cruise along the Jurassic Coast or even a ferry to Jersey; if you want more time on the sand, Studland naturist beach is an hour away.

Those after bigger thrills in the water won't want to leave Splashdown waterpark, a wet and wild activity centre with pools and over a dozen indoor and outdoor flumes and rides. There's more of that inland at Dorset Waterpark, near Corfe Castle (45 minutes), and who could go near Corfe without going round the very fine old castle too...? For more ancient history, the isle of Purbeck (an hour) has plenty of opportunities for fossil hunters, and the famed monument of Stonehenge is 45 minutes from the site.

For petrolheads, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu (45 minutes) has every kind of four-wheeled and three-wheeled thing and a collection of classic vehicles to gaze on enviously before you get back in your own. This is fine road trip country as well, with attractive old market towns like Wimborne Minster and stately homes like Kingston Lacy within 20 minutes of Rivendell.

Must see

  • Kingston Lacy House and Gardens (9.4 kilometres)
  • Adventure Wonderland (10.6 kilometres)
  • The Bournemouth Balloon (15.6 kilometres)
