General

  • Small family- and pet friendly park close to the Jurassic Coast
  • A 10-minute drive from Lyme Regis and Axminster
  • Play area, heated amenities and barbecue/campfire area

Have a quick flick through the reviews for Sunny Side Caravan and Camping and you’ll likely note the word ‘friendly’ cropping up time and again… always a good start, eh? And indeed owners Tony and Emma offer a cheery welcome to all guests at their Devon site: couples, families, kids, dogs and essentially anyone that fancies a peaceful rural break within striking distance of Lyme Regis and Axminster (both 10 minutes’ drive away).

A lot of effort has gone into making sure this place has things sorted for such breaks: for starters you may like to note the heated toilet and shower block, and the fact that the play area has picnic tables next to it where weary parents can settle with a cuppa (or perhaps something a touch stronger) while keeping a beady eye on energetic tiddlers.

Emma and Tony are firm believers that campfires are an essential part of the outdoorsy experience, and so they’ve installed a sociable campfire area where experts can share tips and novices can try out their skills at a safe distance from the main action.

Also vital for such stays are plenty of hours spent out in the fresh air, and they’re easily achieved from this spot – walkers (and dogs in need of walkies) can hit footpaths just outside the site or drive south for 10 minutes or so for the coast path. That coast is, of course, the Jurassic Coast, a prime spot for fossil hunts, beach days, watersports, seafood dinners and all sorts of activities… just as well you’ve got a peaceful place for slumbers after that little lot.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

Coronavirus update: site capacity has been halved to allow for easy social distancing. All pitches are now 40 ft x 40ft, with a 10ft grass area between pitches.

Additional safety measures have also been put in place to protect guests.

The site is set up to a high quality. Gravel hard standing, electric hook up posts, water tap for each pitch. Clean, well maintained toilet block. Site is ideally placed as a base for visiting a large area of Devon and Dorset. Reasonably priced. Friendly welcome.

Friendly couple running the campsite. Helped me a change a bulb on my motorhome in the cold and rain. Very nice people.

The campsite is great as it has a children's playground. Its also fenced in so very safe for the kids to play on their own.

We found plenty to do. Beer Caves were worth a visit and also Charmouth Beach is only a 10/15min drive with easy parking for motorhomes and only £2 per day fee.

We arrived quite late around 8pm and it was dark but Tony the owner still greeted us and made time to show us around the site which was great.
This is a lovely quiet site with nice level pitches, when its dark it great for seeing the stars.
The facilities were spot on and the toilets and showers were nice and clean.
We would definitely recommend this site if your in this area.
