This rather relaxing site is a prime choice for those looking to be lulled into a leisurely mood. Sunny Pooh Corner is but a 10-minute stroll from the Devon village of Ashwater, a peaceful spot that's home to a friendly local pub, a handy food shop and a gorgeous village green (where you can catch glimpses of far-off Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor on clearer days).

Sunny Pooh Corner has plenty of pleasant vistas of its own – the folk that run this place say that there's something special to see from every pitch. This rural site is also a hub for animal life – as well as the wild critters that can frequently be seen scurrying through the long grass, Sunny Pooh Corner has horses and an inquisitive gaggle of geese to its name. Dogs are also welcome here, but please make sure to keep them on a lead.

Well-kept toilets and showers are available if you haven't brought your own (a small charge applies), and water is available for guests. Barbecues are welcome here, but please keep them safely off the ground.

Another option at mealtimes is sampling pub-cooked grub from the Village Inn's varied menu (highlights include locally-sourced fish dishes). There's also a vineyard a few minutes' walk from Sunny Pooh Corner that organises regular tours and tasting events.

Liked:	Loved how quiet the site was & the beautiful views. The owners were really friendly- loved the offer of a cup of tea upon arrival! The site is central giving easy access to both the North & South coasts of both Cornwall & Devon. As the site was small I felt safe leaving my 2 year old to run around outside. Will definitely be back next time we're in the West Country.

Liked:	This site is a little gem, Ricky and Amanda gave us a warm welcome, brought us a welcome cuppa while we were setting up. We stayed 3 nights (not long enough), electric and water hook up, clean shower and toilet, level site with lovely views over the open countryside. We will be back again.

Liked:	Lovely level site with views towards Dartmoor and down into Cornwall due to elevated position. Pitches well separated with own water supply and nearby electric, grass well mowed. We have stayed at a number of Club CL/CS sites not nearly as nice. Easy access via the A388 and through Ashwater. Don't be put off by the name 'Sunny Pooh Corner' you won't be disappointed.

Ricky and his wife were so welcoming...they even made us a cuppa on our arrival. They were knowledgeable about the area and local amenities. The site was lovely with even grass pitches and electric hook up was more than adequate. Toilet and shower facilities were throughly cleaned and most acceptable if we wanted to use them We hired a car that was dropped and picked up for a nominal feel...great service.
All in all one of the nicest places we have stayed.

Liked:	Lovely site with serviced pitches . Very quiet in working farm area .Ricky and Amanda made us very welcome , great for a getaway for it all holiday with local attractions within reach
Disliked:	Be warned there is no On site WiFi , but phone signal (vodafone) was good . Serviced pitches do not include drainage so Motorhome owners need a wastemaster .not a deal breaker just good to be aware

Liked:	The site was a delight! Spacious, clean, toilet and shower facilities were excellent. Real homely touch. We were greated on arrival by Rick, owner, and made to feel very welcome. Rick was a superb host where nothing was too much trouble. Even cut a dog walk in the adjacent field !! Always available if you needed him. Highly recommended.

Local attractions

Before wining and dining in Ashwater you might want to build up a bit of an appetite. Head to Roadford Lake (10 minutes' drive) for a spot of sport in scenic surrounds – here you can opt for waterside walks or hire a kayak from the activity centre. After a lake where you can fish? Clawford Lakes (five minutes) has 17 different pools to choose from.

Or perhaps you'd rather cast your line in the briny deep? Head into Bude (30 minutes) to sort off-shore fishing trips and to be in with a chance of bringing back some fresh mackerel or bass. Make sure to check out Bude’s gorgeous sandy beaches while in town, or head down the road instead to pebbly Crackington Haven (40 minutes from base).

The wide open spaces of Dartmoor National Park are also on the cards. The old fortress town of Okehampton (30 minutes) is the gateway to the park – the remains of its medieval castle still stand today and are a great vantage point over the surrounding countryside. When it comes to wild and windswept Dartmoor vistas, though, High Willhays Tor (45 minutes) is the undisputed champion.
