Cornish Coasts Caravan and Camping Park: Happy days

General

  • North Cornish site with views to Devon's Lundy Island
  • Five miles from Bude
  • Immaculate amenities including free hot showers

Coo, cop a look at these Cornish coast views… Cornish Coasts Caravan and Camping Park is, not surprisingly, on the Cornish coast (the north side), but from this four-acre site you can also see across to Devon’s Lundy Island and you're only about half an hour away from that county’s coast too (yes, the north side as well). Beaches? Less than five miles away at the handsome little town of Bude.

Small and friendly Cornish Coasts is one of the oldest established parks in the area, so the owners know what’s what for making guests tick and ensuring they return year after year. You might also reckon that site owners who say they take pride in the cleanliness of their toilets and showers will tick all the right boxes too, as will new and improved features on site: the amenities block has power that which provide lashings of free hot water all day.

The site added a café and a farm shop in 2017 which is open from 8am to 8pm daily. As well as local produce, it sells essentials, camping accessories and booze; there’s also an ice pack freezing service and Calor and camping gas for sale. Other (very clean) amenities include a launderette, baby changing facilities, covered dishwashing area and a chemical waste disposal point. Hairdryers are available too, so you can look your best in those Cornish Coast photos.

Shop and cafe was lovely with plenty of choice, location was perfect for exploring cornwall

    Disliked:

Toilets/showers were very dated although very clean. Layout of pitches were unusual with caravan sideways which made getting on/ off pitch a hassle, had to use motor mover to turn van 360 to get out. Gravel/grass pitch was sparse of gravel and mud patch for awning no grass at all.

Very Friendly Staff, great views, facilities better than most campsites. Great little shop with all fresh food and a camp shop for when you forget your gas regulator (Wink Wink Nudge Nudge). Overall great trip. Only think I was annoyed about was the fact I did not stay longer

Nice well kept campsite with a lovely cafe and shop. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely couple next to us. Nicely located for beaches at widemouth bay and summerleaze.

    Disliked:

The showers and toilets were ok but would of expected it to be cleaner especially during COVID. We also had the family from hell in front of us but that wasn’t the campsites fault.

The facilities look brand new, our tent was west facing meaning we got to see a lovely sunset each evening. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Location of the campsite is brilliant, 5 minute drive to the beach and just a tad further to arrive in Bude town centre. Price was good and would definitely recommend!

Local attractions

You could spend your entire hol on the sands and in the sea if you were so inclined: the long bay and miles of sand of Widemouth Bay are three miles away from Cornish Coasts for surfing, rockpooling or stretching out on golden sand; Bude is five miles away, and Summerleaze, Sandymouth, Crackington Haven and Crooklets are within 10 to 15 minutes’ drive.

If you’re new to the surf, this area has a good handful of surf schools to show you the ropes; if you prefer to stay on land, the South West Coast Path runs alongside Poundstock, the village nearest to Cornish Coasts.

Going along the coast towards Newquay, the medieval fishing village of Boscastle, eight miles from Cornish Coasts, is a popular tourist spot, probably best known for its handsome harbour and National Trust visitor centre in its old ‘pilchard palace'. Also the stuff of legends, Tintagel and its King Arthur associations are three miles along the coast from Boscastle: climb up to Tintagel Castle high on the coast for tales of Arthur and some seriously stunning views across the water (you should be able to see Lundy Island from here too).

Going into Devon, take the kids to new heights at the Milky Way Adventure Park in Bideford; the town is also where you can catch the ferry to lovely Lundy Island.

Must see

  • Tintagel Castle (17.7 kilometers)
  • Rock Beach (35.0 kilometers)
  • RHS Garden Rosemoor (35.8 kilometers)

National Trust

  • Tintagel Old Post Office (17.5 kilometers)
