Primrose Park Field primitive grass campsite
Liked: views over to pendle hill were amazing! The campsite and around there is very little light so was amazing for star gazing at night. Lovely and quiet campsite, had a play area in the middle for children. Facilities were clean and easy to find. Had dinner at the pub near by The plough inn about 10minutes drive.

Woodland Park primitive cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked: Location, friendly campers.
Disliked: There was no hot water or lights in gents toilets, no hot water in the ladies toilets and no hot water to wash up dishes in the outside sinks… There are only 2 showers on the whole of the campsite which provided luke warm water, they are as basic as basic could be - a wooden 8’ x 8’ shed with a shower cubicle in. Only 2 toilets for male and 2 toilets for females is a disgrace for a busy campsite and the fact you can’t wash your hands in hot water afterwards is beyond belief.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, however I would like to point out that your review is factually incorrect. The lights were working in the gents all weekend. We are a non electric site and the lights are run by solar panels. The site owner turns these on at night, but we apologise if they were not turned on soon enough for you. The ladies actually have 3 toilets, the men’s has 2 and 2 urinals. The showers also have a toilet in each and a sink, not just a shower. There was no issue with the shower temperatures as they are run off independent gas boilers. They are set in a specific way to ensure the right temperature and pressure. However if a guest has turned the temperature down this may account for the water not being warm enough for you. If you had mentioned this to a staff member we could have helped you with this. The showers had a lot of work and effort put into them which was not easy being a non electric site that is run off 1 generator! Most people are actually very impressed with the showers! We may be a basic site but we are an off grid site with no electricity and this is reflected in the price. The facilities were regularly cleaned but unfortunately the weather was not great and the toilets were soon muddy again. Regrettably we cannot stand there all day cleaning them after every person has used them! We regret that we had a mechanical issue with the boiler that supplies the washing up sink and the toilets. However, it was Easter weekend and a bank holiday so it was not easy to get someone out, but we did and it was fixed. Again, if you had come to us we could have advised you to wash your hands at the sink in the showers and get water for your washing up. We would have even boiled the kettle for you if you’d have asked! We do apologise that you were not happy with your stay but others were more than happy. Therefore may I suggest that if you are looking for a 5 star camping experience that you don’t choose a non electric off grid site in the future.

Liked: Amazing views from our tent pitch. Field in the middle for kids to play so there were never far from the tent. Fire hire which was a nice extra and the gentleman that run the site was always around and super helpful and friendly. Clean toilets, always had toilet roll. Little shop on site for basics and sweets for the kids.
Disliked: No hot water to wash up with.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and for your comments about Andrew and the clean facilities. We apologise for the issue with the water to the sink. We had a temporary issue with the boiler that supplies the washing up sink. I’m not sure if you spoke to Andrew about it but he was advising people to get hot water from the sink in the shower cubicles while we tried to fix the problem. This has now been fixed. We hope to see you again soon and hopefully we will have better weather.

Woodland Park primitive cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked: Lovely back-to-basics site surrounded by beautiful woodland. Facilities are minimal but excellent, and Andrew (the owner) was friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. There are different parts of the site to suit different types of campers (large field with play equipment for those with children and quieter spots higher up the site for those who want some peace) and, best of all, dogs, firepits and BBQs are welcome 😊 Will definitely be going back!
Disliked: Nothing at all

Liked: Absolutely wonderful place and such welcoming owners. It smashed it down with rain a few times and then moderate rain for most of the time but yet me and my son enjoyed ourselves. Everywhere is clean and well maintained. I have nothing negative to report. Going back soon.
Disliked: Nothing.

From the manager: Thank you for your review Kristina. Unfortunately due to it being December when you camped with us we had some issues with freezing pipes which is completely out of our control. This information is clearly displayed on Pitch up to make campers aware that during the winter months we may have issues such as this. However, I am sorry that you were not happy with your experience at our park. We are doing everything we can to prevent this from happening but unfortunately the weather really is out of our control. We like to keep our site open all year round for people like yourselves that want to camp at any time of year, unlike other sites that close down in October until March. We think this makes us a unique park but we will take your comments on board for the future.
