  • Luxury, furnished lakeview glamping near Delamere Forest and Chester
  • Adults-only peaceful site with toilets and modern shower block
  • Bell tents set over 10 acres of wildlife haven with four lakes
What a lush – and luxury – site this is. Lloyds Meadow Glamping is a swish and modern glampsite for adults only, in a peaceful wildlife haven near Delamere Forest and Chester, set over 10 acres and with four handsome lakes. The site is excellently placed for Cheshire and north-west England adventures: Delamere Forest and Blakemere Moss are a couple of minutes’ drive away; Go Ape, karting and quad biking within 15, and the local train station with services into Chester and Manchester is five minutes' walk away. The owners are keen to give guests the most luxurious stay possible and have equipped the five-metre bell tents here accordingly: expect award-winning mattresses, 12-tog featherdown duvets, built-in groundsheets for snuggly and comfy nights, alongside lots of extra little touches like ethically sourced cotton rugs from India, outdoor seating and fairy lights and solar lamps. Keep an eye – and ear – out for local residents, as Lloyds Meadow is a wildlife haven with buzzards swooping overhead and herons, kingfishers, swallows and housemartins all flitting about the water and grounds (there are some ‘very cheeky robins’ too, so get ready to snap some pics). And by night? Turn your attention fully skywards for some stargazing; this is an area of low light pollution. For local eats, stroll five minutes to the local pub, a former 19th-century coaching inn with recently renovated outdoor areas, daily specials and food served all day: the Lloyds Meadow team particularly recommend the fish, chips and peas, accompanied by a pint of local ale. Toilets and a hot shower (added in 2019) are a short walk from the bell tents; alternatively, guests can use the closer toilets by the lake. (Remember to bring a torch as the site is off-grid.)

Local attractions

Leave the car behind and walk the five minutes to Mouldsworth train station for services to Chester, Manchester and the villages and towns enroute. Chester is 12 minutes from Mouldsworth by train and Manchester an hour and 20 minutes. Adrenaline seekers should make for Delamere Forest half an hour away by foot, to swing among the treetops and take Segway rides at Go Ape, or to venture along the hiking and cycling paths and bridleway of Cheshire’s biggest forest. Regular events and activities run all year round for all ages. To spend some time/money indoors, the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet is 20 minutes’ drive away; quell restless partners afterwards with a boat trip on the River Dee from Chester, or an afternoon pottering around Chester Zoo.
