Around the site

General

  • Spacious, peaceful site by the river in Upton Upon Severn
  • A 10-minute drive from Tewkesbury and the Malvern Hills
  • Level, easy-access pitches 10 minutes' walk from the town centre

Settling in by the River Severn, at a spacious and straightforward site with some fine meadow views – sound splendid? If that’s a nod of agreement, wend your way to Worcestershire for a stay at Little Fish Meadow, just next to the river in the town of Upton Upon Severn.

Pitches at this four-acre site are pleasingly flat and level, and easy to access from the main road into the town. Once you’re all settled in there’s little need to manoeuvre your way out again, for much of what you’ll need is within strolling distance: pubs, restaurants, a chippy and various food shops are all within a 10-minute wander over the bridge into the town centre.

Boat hire and riverside rambles on the Severn Way are even closer, and there are plenty of places to get out for a good bike ride nearby too. Looking a little further afield for your jollies, you can hit Tewkesbury or the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty with a drive of 10 minutes or so, or get up to Worcester in around 20 minutes for museums, cathedral visits and an afternoon at the cricket.

This riverside site is all set up to be a place for peaceful times, and facilities have been kept accordingly low key: guests have access to essentials like water, toilet facilities and electrical hookups, and are welcome to light up a barbecue for sorting outdoor dinners. Dogs are welcome to join you on a stay here too (that’ll set a few tails wagging…)

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The location, short walk to town centre

    Disliked:

Lack of separate water supply for chemical disposal emptying leading to the same tap being used for drinking water and toilet cassette rinsing. Serious risk of virus transmission.
The water supply taps in the main field were too large for normal screw connections.
    I.e 3/4 inch instead of 1/2 .
No grey disposal facility. No recycling facility. Waste and rubbish disposal in open air, no animal or insect prevention.

Very close to Upton upon Severn which had some beautiful spots to sit by the river and a couple of nice little pubs. Lots of water taps in the field we were in so didnt have to walk too far. Facilities were clean with a barriered area to put any rubbish bags. Back to basics camping; just what we signed up for!

    Disliked:

Location next to the town and easy to walk into

    Disliked:

This a field with very basic facilities. I was concerned at the entrance policy which pretty was open a gate and go into it. Nobody to check in and no evidence of any form of security . there is no lighting either.
This became an issue when we went into the town ( a few hundred metres walk) and then returned later at around 10pm to find our table and chairs had been stolen. We then remembered seeing some people underneath the road bridge so we went down there (pitch black) and found the chairs but the table had been smashed. Interestingly there were other chairs also there so this is something that has happened before . I suggest that anybody staying there needs to be very conscious on security so as to try and avoid this happening again. We did report it to phone number of the site and also to the police , but I don't think we will come back here again.

Local attractions

Upton Upon Severn’s a fab little town – as well as supping in its pubs and browsing in its independent shops, you’ll want to check out the pretty half-timbered buildings and the medieval church affectionately known as the ‘Pepperpot’. Time visits well and you can get stuck into events at the town’s various music festivals.

It’s also a handy hub for getting out to see a bit more of that gorgeous Worcestershire countryside: hire boats just across the road to glide along the Severn or hit the Severn Way, a few minutes’ walk away, to ramble or ride bikes by the water’s edge.

Go far enough along the river and you’ll eventually hit Tewkesbury (to the south) or Worcester (to the north). If your legs won’t propel you quite so far, drive to the former in 10 minutes or the latter in 20 minutes – both have excellent historic buildings to visit and pretty streets to wander in.

Speaking of wanders, it’s worth planning more ambles up in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 10 minutes’ drive away – there’s plenty of choice both for strollers and those seeking something more challenging.
