General
- Peaceful adults-only purpose-built touring park just outside Boston
- A 40-minute drive from the seaside at Skegness
- Pubs, supermarkets and fishing lakes all within walking distance
A little slice of Lincolnshire set aside just for the grownups to chill out? How splendid. It’s an adults-only setup at Meadowvale Park, a touring site five minutes’ drive from the centre of Boston, which means you’ll be able to kick back and enjoy the peaceful surrounds without tripping over any tiddlers.
And a most serene spot this is, too – the surrounds are all woodland and fields, with a fishing lake a short stroll up the road. There’s plenty of birdwatching, walking and cycling to be done in the area, and if you need a little incentive to get you up and out, it’s worth noting that there are a couple of pubs within 20 minutes’ walk (plus a sizeable supermarket if you fancy a relaxed evening tending the barbie back at base).
This park is in prime position for forays around the fens – head to Boston for boat trips and bubble cars, wander around woods and windmills or take yourselves off for all sorts of traditional seaside antics in Skegness, 40 minutes away.
The folk in charge of Meadowvale are rather proud of their purpose-built park – and rightly so, as it’s a well-maintained place with a particularly swish toilet block (including showers and accessible facilities).

Local attractions
The fens are famously flat, and that’s a fact that’s likely to appeal to the fairweather cyclist – so bring bikes along if you fancy some easy pedalling. A couple of minutes’ bike ride (or 10 minutes on foot if that’s your preference) takes you to Jenny’s Wood for trails around a 27-acre site, with a fitness circuit if you need a bit more exercise. Planning to sit down instead? Walk to Westwood Lakes in less than five minutes for a fishing sesh.
Boston, five minutes’ drive away, is a handsome place for a wander – start by seeking out St Botolph’s Church (aka The Stump), Middle-Ages relic Hussey Tower and the free museum in the Guildhall, then make your way to Maud Foster Mills, one of the tallest operating windmills in the land at 25 metres high. Drop by on a Wednesday or Saturday and you can see the cogs whirring to grind you some flour or oats to take away.
As niche museums go, the Bubblecar Museum (10 minutes’ drive) is a cracker, with more than 50 of the petite vehicles in residence. Rather larger are the exhibits at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (25 minutes), where you can get up close to several historic flying machines, and book a ride in a bomber.
