We loved our holiday!22/08/2024

Really enjoyed our holiday, was easy to find, quite check in, the pitch was right next to the park and toilet/showers for the children. 10 minute walk to the lakes and white water rafting. 10 minutes from supermarkets such as Aldi, Sainsbury's. The children had a really good time. The shop had toys, some food and any sanitary stuff, we didn’t need any ice but we bought some for our drinks as it was 28-32 degrees that week we went. The ground was flat and easy to pitch. Loads of space for the children to run around and play, we all had a really good time and with electric hook up, the price wasn’t bad at all. We’d definitely come again next year. We did canoeing, paddle boarding and the mini 4x4 off roading. The park next to there is really good, definitely an hours play in there. A lovely walk around the rowing lake. We went into Nottingham city a couple of times and found it was cheaper to park outside the city not far from camp and get the tram which was only £2.50 for adults and I think the children were free. In the city which I think they do every summer, they had a beach and water play, with rides, a bar with swinging chairs, food and much more. The campsite its self, we had no complaints at all. The toilets were cleaned everyday, the showers were good. There were plenty of water taps dotted around the site. Good pot washing facilities. A couple of groups which did try to push boundaries of playing music loud at 11.30pm but nothing over midnight and there were staff we saw walking around sometimes to check. We were so lucky to have weather that was 28-32 degrees that week and came home tanned.

The activities were a little let down really with some of the restrictions. We booked for our son to go on the wipe out online as it says 6 years which he is 6 but when you go to check in they had a height restriction as well which no child at that age would be. We were with friends who also booked online and their child was 7 years and still no where near the height they allowed. I did mention they needed to change the age limit online because I don’t think there is any child aged 6 that tall that I’ve ever met. We also couldn’t get a refund for this either, it was exchange for vounchers only. We also brought our own paddle boards and was hoping to hire their life jackets for the adults as our children had their own but they couldn’t allow for this for insurance purposes. We had to get our refund back in a voucher which we used for canoeing. Thankfully our friends let us borrow their life jackets and it was only £6 per paddle board to go on. My advice would be, anyone who is thinking of booking online before you arrive for the activities, definitely look out for those restrictions. The campsite its self, we had no complaints at all. Over all we still had a good time and the children loved the activities we did.

Countryside and trees surrounding the camping field

    Modern facilties on camping field

Helpful lady in reception who allowed me to move from my original booked ( electric ) pitch as it was so overcrowded.

Handy for the water sports centre, as I was taking part in a run there .

    Disliked:

Inconsiderate family with loud music and top of voices arguments

Facilities on rest of site were appalling, dirty and old

Although the facilities on the camping field were newer, there were insufficient toilets and showers for the amount of people staying . For the 2 nights I stayed over a weekend , they weren't cleaned at all. I avoided using the showers and only used the toilets out of necessity.

The pitches are well maintained and there was lots of space for children to play.

    Disliked:

This site is heavily advertised with access to the outdoor adventure and whilst the is the adventure centre across the road, if you child is under 1.3m tall there is hardly anything they are allowed to go on. Even the ‘children’s lagoon wipeout’ clearly sized for children is not accessible! And the staff let us pay, dress in wetsuits & floats and listen to the safety briefing for it before then telling the children “actually you can’t go on the inflatable”.
The children were so disappointed and due to the lack of accessible water activities we left the site a day early. RotherValley in sheffield has much bigger and better facilities so which children can access and so we will go there in future.
Showers blocks were filthy, water runs for 5 seconds per press of button so it’s difficult to shower -use the disabled one which doesn’t have this issue.

Stayed in camping Pod, this was clean with electricity which was a bonus. Toilet facilities and showers were close by and cleaned daily. Had no issues with them considering it is communal showers and toilets, kept clean and tidy. Also pot washing facilities which I didn't expect. Activities within close walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Very little. Park facilities for kids. Nothing else.

    Disliked:

Our pitch was next to the road, separated by trees but it sounded like we were parked on the side of the M6. Lorries trundled down the road at all hours. Constant flow of cars and motor bikes (noisy motor bikes) Had trouble sleeping.
Not sure if you can request a pitch away from the road, but check before you book.
Skip emptying at 7:30am. No consideration for young kids in bed.
    I wouldn’t recommend this site.

The pitch we eventually got on an empty field due to aggressive and dark behaviour from a topless rude man like liked to say F**k alot!

    Disliked:

The saddest thing was the staff didn't want to say anything to rude man because his wife was nice.luckily we were left alone only after they told us to.move our tents further apart on an empty field, I left after one night and had 2 nights booked! Says it all really!
