The bar/bistro and restaurant not being open in the week and no food being served . Also the site manager didn't even tell us where the shower block was or where we could get water from

Deceptive adverising. Listed having a shop, bar and bistro however on arrival was told that the bistro is no longer open. The bar appears to only be open on weekends and the shop is a tool shed.
We did consider leaving early or changing to another camp site.
Disappointed and will not be returning.
The site seems to be more geared towards seasonal pitches, while it was full of caravans there wasn't alot of people around.

The location was great - as National Trust members we were so central to at least 7 places to visit. Lagport itself is a great place too with enough shops to visit / for supplies and lovely walks along the river.
The manager (Kevin) was so pleasant and helpful, even when really busy and very hot he always had time for everyone.
The games room was well stocked with books and jigsaws as well as DVDs, a pool table and more, and with a comfortable conservatory-type suite it would have been very useful if we had stayed during bad weather.
The toilet block as some have mentioned is a little tired externally, but inside was lovely and warm. I did have a cold shower one morning, so it may be that there is only limited hot water at any one time?
Everyone on site was very friendly including the long-stay / seasonal pitch folk who on some sites could be a bit more territorial...
The bonus for us with being on a non-electric pitch was the ability to charge our phones - there was 20 sockets available in the games room and more in the laundry room. Also being able to re-freeze cool packs for our cool box (free of charge) made everything so much easier for us over the week we were there.

Not exactly a dislike, but at first glance we felt a bit like we were camping in the centre of a 'car park' for caravans, but actually it was absolutely fine, and it meant we were closer to the facilities than other campers in the next field.

Again, not a dislike - we were out every day anyway, but the wonderful views mentioned were from the bar / reception area not the camping field.

No-one on reception to show where to pitch, the phone number left was unanswered, the manager was drinking in the bar and eventually found us pitched in the wrong place,(stinking of booze) it was sweltering heat and we needed to get pitched somewhere! The facilities are not at all as described on the website ... no food / bar mid week, no shop, very little in the games room. The washrooms / toilets / showers were very dirty and not kept at all clean. The bin was over flowing onto the floor with hand towels, which when eventually emptied the black bin bag was just left on the floor! There was vomit all over one loo, not cleaned off in 3 days! Showers dirty. No soap for hand washing. Rubbish left in laundry was there the whole time we were there. Rubbish on our pitch, cigarette butts, water ballons, bits of paper. The site is dirty. The decking around the toilet block is rotten and dangerous. This site has gone down hill terribly over the last 10 years, I would not recommend it or be returning sadly. Such a shame as it's in a great spot.

I loved how friendly everyone was , the place was so clean and tidy and very safe for my very young children to play. The other campers welcomed us and made us feel really invited.
