Good pitches, very well kept hedges and grounds. Constant hot showers were great. Loved the restaurant and bar. Friendly helpful staff. Great position near town. Gravel and tarmac roads great in rain.

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike but a comment - the on-site shop was very expensive. This must put people off shopping there when there are so many supermarkets nearby. Also prices were not on fruit & veg and many items.

Many bars and restaurants near by,and pitch size not bad although can be difficult to get on to .supermarket well stocked with friendly staff.

    Disliked:

Over crowded with resident pitches......residence that think it's ok to come onto your pitch day or night to carry out maintenance on their static caravan. Touring pitches are very few and scattered throughout site......The site is advertised as being dog friendly however on my first walk out with my two small Yorkshire terriers I was told to move on three times by the German and Dutch residence that make up a large portion that live there.......the showers are old and tired and I found to have dirty floors covered with hair . Maybe a mop for public use would solve the problem......dog walking areas provided however so smelly and small that no dog wants to use......payment for stay has to be paid upfront ,,also they insist on 21€deposit for electric per week. Cash only .....

From the manager...

We are sorry that your stay has not met your expectations.
At the time you were at the campsite we were 95% occupied and customers over 6 months only have 35%.
On the other hand, of course we are friends of the dogs, so we allow them to stay. If someone has a problem with other customers you should report to reception. Notification sent to gardening services to review the smell issue in the dog area.
Anyway, we appreciate your feedback.

The indoor pool was lovely, and the outdoor pool was nice but was too cold to use and the shop stocked just about everything you need

    Disliked:

The staff were rude, and for the price we paid even after they had taken our pitch up deposit the added cost for electricity was extortion in my opinion

From the manager...

We thank you for your good comment about our heated swimming pool, the outdoor pool is not heated so the water is at the outside temperature.

Electricity is charged at 0.41 € per kWh consumed. Upon arrival, the customer is informed and delivers a deposit of 3 € per day of stay, the day of departure is calculated how much electricity has been consumed and the accounts are settled. Depending on the total consumption of kwh, part of the deposit money will be refunded or you will have to pay the excess consumed.

Lovely indoor pool and restaurant, and it’s great that we have water and drainage

    Disliked:

I think with what we are being charged electricity should be included in the price not paid as an extra, and also when you have paid a deposit you expect a pitch big enough to accommodate the size of your caravan not crammed on a pitch the size of a sardine van while much smaller vans and motor homes have super large pitches.

From the manager...

Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.
All plots have about 80 m2, some have a pine tree inside.
All plots have the same price, we do not charge more to those who have a large caravan.
On the dates you were at the campsite we were over 95% occupied so the best plots were already occupied.
Electricity, it is true, is charged according to consumption is advertised in Pitchup and reported in the check in. The decision to choose one campsite or another depending on electricity is up to the guests.

The pitches are a decent size. Good shower toilet facilities. Was able to take the dog and toilet area for dogs provided. The position is great for walking to sea front and plenty of restaurants close by. Good shop on site too.

    Disliked:

It was great to have the dog area with signs asking to poop and scoop but as usual there is a percentage that do not pick up after their dogs and there is a lot left around.

From the manager...

We appreciate the time spent commenting on what you thought your stay at the Racó campsite was like.
The subject of dog droppings is difficult to solve because we can not be 24 hrs. overseeing the dogs' area. We depend on the sense of responsibility and education of dog owners.

Local attractions

Those bonzer beaches first, of course (well, perhaps after a beer or cocktail): Benidorm has over four miles of sand in its popular and good-looking beaches of Poniente and Levante – as well as glittering nightlife, its Old Town and five fab family theme parks. Across from the beach, the waters of Benidorm Island are where to spot local marine life.

Away from the resort for day trips, try Altea fishing village and its Old Town filled with the stalls of artists (look out too for the blue dome of its church and its narrow alleyways); the clifftop houses and the castle of Guadalest village; hiking the trails from the Moorish castle of Finestrat and the mountains of Tárbena; visiting the Ethnographic museum at Villajoyosa, and seeing the Palmeral at Elche, the biggest palm grove in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Calpe, a tourist resort at the foot of the Rock of Ifach, is now a nature spot and has spectacular views.

Two other well-known tourist options in the area are lively Alicante, again with an Old Town, and the city of art and science Valencia, to see its cathedral and the Miguelete, La Lonja, North Station, Serrano Towers and Quart de Dos Aguas Palace.

And wherever you end up, also very much recommended is Spanish cuisine: make a meal of rice and fish from the coast including black rice, arroz a banda, peix cauldron, paella aladroc, les pilotes de dacsa, les cokes, la olleta de blat...
