It's free, quick and easy!
- Beachside site on the Cilento coast
- In the spectacular scenery of the Cilento/Vallo di Diano National Park
- Pool, tennis, bar and restaurant
If sun, surf and seaside are beckoning, splash along for a sandy Salerno stay at Villaggio Villamarina, a family-friendly site on the Cilento coast where days of basking, bathing and (gentle) hiking are a mere minute or two away.
It’s a short stroll to sandy beaches from this Campania site, and many have umbrellas, deckchairs and sun loungers to hire for long lazy days by the water. Villaggio Villamarina isn’t just beachside either – it’s in the UNESCO-listed Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, so when something a little more active is called for there are plenty of trails (and some stunning beaches) to wander along.
Less than five minutes’ drive from the town of Marina di Camerota, the site is well placed for sea cave explores, diving excursions and boat trips along the coast, and the hilltop town of Camerota has some spectacular views towards the Mediterranean too.
Sick of being salty, sandy and sticky? Retreat to the site for a cooling dip in the pool or to work up a sweat on the tennis court before seeking shelter from the Italian sun in the bar and restaurant, where local cuisine can be tucked into while evening entertainment passes hours.

Local attractions
Elbowing other beachgoers out of the way can put a bit of a dampener on hols so, instead of swimming along to the local spots, take a boat or make tracks along peaceful national park trails to nearby Cala Bianca (once named the most beautiful beach in Italy) or Pozzallo, both within half an hour’s drive (plus a bit of easy hiking).
Stick to the coast with some diving explores of sea caves (there are some primo examples 20 minutes away on Capo Palinuro) or dolphin spotting outings at the stunningly scenic and secluded Baia degli Infreschi half an hour from bas. If spending time wandering among the pretty villages of the Cilento coast is high on the agenda, there are some particularly good options hereabouts: Agropoli, San Mauro la Bruca and Caprioli are all within an hour of the site and have monasteries, castles, promenades and wineries to visit.
There’s plenty round here to distract even the most ardent history buff too: first stop should be the UNESCO site of Paestum, a little over an hour away, where there are well-preserved Greek temples to poke around (as well as a museum full of millennia-old frescoes). The slightly handier Elea-Velia archaeological park and the Musea Living Museum of the Sea are musts within an hour’s drive.
