It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site five minutes' drive from the beach
- A 15-minute drive from Pornic and 50 minutes from Nantes
- Large pool complex with jacuzzis, slides and massage benches
One thing’s for sure, you’ll want to make sure you’ve stuffed your luggage full of swimming togs, goggles, sunglasses and plenty of sun cream when you’re off to Camping La Renaudière. The reason for this being partly one of location: this family-friendly park is a mere five minutes’ drive from the nearest beaches and within easy reach of lots of other lush Loire-Atlantique coastal spots.
On top of those delights, there’s also a splendid pool complex on site – a place of water jets, jacuzzis, massage benches and all sorts of slides to keep les enfants busy while parents chill out. If they need running-about space too, there’s plenty of that at the site’s several play areas and sports pitches. Indoor amusements are also on offer at the games room, with arcade games, billiards, table football and table tennis to see you through any inclement times.
And do they serve food at Camping La Renaudière to fuel all this activity? The answer to that is a resounding ‘yes' – at both a snack bar and a proper sit-down restaurant, in fact. There's also a bread and pastry delivery service in high season, with croissants and other bits available to eat on the communal terrace or take back to your accommodation.
La Plaine Sur Mer, a pleasant little town with lots of handy amenities including a sizeable supermarket, is about a kilometre away.

Local attractions
To the beach? A fine idea – Plage de la Source, Plage de Joalland and Port Meleu are all within a few minutes’ drive. Once you’ve had a stroll around all of these, make the next port of call Pornic (15 minutes’ drive) – there’s more beach action to be had here, along with a golf course, a high ropes course at Pornic Aventure and tons of watersports.
For more water-themed days out, aim for Saint-Nazaire (half an hour) where you can experience life on a submarine and an ocean liner or take to something more traditional with a horse-drawn boat tour through the surrounding salt marshes. Noirmoutier (an hour) is a good destination to bear in mind if you fancy seaside cycle rides.
Away from the coast, meet a multicultural collection of creatures from around the world at Legendia Parc (half an hour), or wander around Nantes (50 minutes) to view the gothic cathedral, the imposing château and the displays of the natural history museum. Don’t miss the famed Les Machines de l’Île while you’re here – where else will you get the chance to take a ride on a 12-metre-tall animatronic elephant?
