- Rural Tarn-et-Garonne camping five minutes’ drive from L’Honor-de-Cos
- Lamothe-Capdeville beach five minutes’ drive; Montauban 15 minutes
- Peaceful, relaxed site with shared cooking, dining and chilling areas
Looking for peace and quiet among forest and meadow scenery? You’ve hit the jackpot at Clos des Garrigues, a Tarn-et-Garonne site tucked into spectacular countryside on the outskirts of L’Honor-de-Cos village and 15 minutes’ drive north of Montauban.
Accommodation is in tourer caravans. At this juncture, please note that while they offer modern-day essentials including comfortable beds, linen, towels and an LED lantern, they don’t have electricity or running water. They are designed to be your sleeping quarters, as daily life here revolves around the shared cooking, dining and living areas.
Set in a former agricultural greenhouse, the central dome houses the site’s amenities and a chilled rest-and-reading area. Cooking takes place in the well-equipped outdoor kitchen, with refrigerators, a gas cooker and kitchen utensils all provided. You can take care of remote working requirements, sip a glass of wine or dine under the stars on the communal terrace, which also has sockets to charge your electrical devices.
Sporting entertainment is laid on too. Keep active with ping-pong, croquet and pétanque challenges, or run around playing ball games with the kids. If hiking is your thing, the site owners can recommend walks directly from the pitches.
Finally, a few practicalities: when you arrive at Clos des Garrigues, leave your vehicle in the private parking area and walk to your accommodation – if you get here after dark, the cobblestone driveway is lit up all night. And for the well-being of everybody, please keep any dogs on leads while on site, and refrain from making any noise between 9pm and 9am.

Local attractions
While there are plenty of swimming spots along the river, Lamothe-Capdeville (five minutes’ drive) has a splendid sandy stretch for a paddle in the water (or a chance to lay down a towel and have a peaceful snooze). Once thoroughly rested, you can see more of the countryside on horseback from Les Sabots de l’Honor (25 minutes’ walk), a trekking centre that runs rides for all levels of ability.
Perhaps you’d rather jump in a canoe. If so, this is the vehicle of choice over at Gorges de l’Aveyron (an hour and five minutes’ drive). And if you’re feeling particularly daring, the Roc d’Anglars (45 minutes) is a good spot to test your climbing skills… or paraglide from up high.
The Aveyron runs through Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val (40 minutes), a medieval settlement with Romanesque architecture and a lively Sunday produce market, and Najac (an hour and five minutes), a scenic bastide town. North of the river, Caylus (40 minutes) is a photogenic medieval village and gateway for hikes to the waterfalls at Cascade Pétrifiante (45 minutes).
