  • Half an hour's drive from the ferry port at Saint-Malo
  • Covered, heated swimming pool with waterslides and paddling pool
Get ready for a Brittany break in stunning surroundings at Camping Emeraude near Dinard and Saint-Malo on the Breton north coast – the beach is close by, the vistas are viewsome, and spectacularly scenic hiking along the famed GR 34 is easily accessed nearby. Camping Emeraude is in the small and comely village of Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, a 15-minute drive from Dinard, half an hour from Saint-Malo and just under an hour north of Brittany capital Rennes. The closest beaches are only a kilometre away and are reckoned by the Camping Emeraude team to be among the best sands of the Haute-Bretagne… you should surely book a hol here to see if you agree. Emeraude is a friendly site well set up for families: its modern facilities include a playground, a bouncy castle, miniature golf, ping pong tables and a games room, and regular entertainment, activities and parties for all ages run in high season. No need to venture off site if the weather’s a little uncooperative either, as the fine pool here is under cover and heated, and comes with waterslides and a kids’ paddling pool. Eats are easily sourced on site too, as guests can take their pick from traditional Breton dishes, seafood and shellfish at the restaurant, or use the takeaway service to bear dishes back to berth. The snack bar dishes up pizza, roast chicken, hamburgers, fries and other fast food; if you don’t fancy this for breakfast, order bread and pastries for the next morning from the site grocery shop.

Local attractions

The site team recommendations include the seaside resorts of Dinard and Saint-Malo, the golf course a kilometre, and tramping as far as one can manage on the splendid GR 34, running for a full 2,000 kilometres along the Brittany coast from Ille-et-Vilaine to Morbihan through Finistère and the Côtes-d'Armor. Also trek along to Dinan (30 minutes’ drive), a scenically set hillside town home to medieval buildings, old city walls, a 19th-century theatre and the 14th-century Château de Dinan; if you’re around in late July, Dinan's Fête des Remparts is hugely recommended too. You could also have a day of watersports at Saint-Cast-le-Guildo (30 minutes), or venture a bit further to splendid Cap Fréhel or Fort la Latte (both 45 minutes) or stunning Mont St Michel an hour from the site. If you’re having a day in Rennes (also much recommended), make it a Saturday to coincide with the city market where swathes of stalls set up in Place Sainte-Anne: this is the lively part of town if you want to stick around into the evening too.

Liked: The caravan was excellent, great facilities, especially the pool . The location was great near the beach and nice little town.

Disliked: More items in onsite shop - was no milk or bread all week. Very poor wifi signal and kept having to re- log in while using it.
