Sightseeing starts from near this park in the village of Dol-de-Bretagne with its cathedral and location high above the marshes spreading out to Mont-Saint-Michel Bay (10 minutes’ drive). Wander beside the medieval houses, then make your way to the seaside town of St-Malo (40 minutes) for sandy beaches, towering old walls and the La Demeure de Corsaire house belonging to an 18th-century privateer. From St-Malo, trace the wide valley of the Rance upstream and seek out serene spots along it before visiting the city of Dinan (35 minutes) with its cobbled squares and traditional Breton homes. Once that’s ticked off, another couple of must-visit sights in northern France include Mont Saint-Michel, 40 minutes away, a pretty island topped by a monastery, and the L'Ange Michel theme park (50 minutes).
