It's free, quick and easy!
- Auvergne site spread over 45 hectares on the banks of the Bouble river
- Within an hour's drive of Vulcania and Le PAL theme parks
- Excellent bistro on site, plus indoor pool and 18-hole discgolf course
Whatever you’re heading over to the Auvergne for, it’s likely to be within easy reach of the smart glamping setup at Domaine des Grandes Côtes, for this park five minutes’ drive from Target is well placed for outings of all stripes: cultural, active, family-friendly…
And if you’re aiming for this area mainly to eat your way through large piles of local grub? You’ll be well sorted here too, as this site has its own bistro that serves up splendid plates of Auvergne cuisine, including cheese boards, meats, truffles and local fave aligot (comfort food heaven in the form of a cheesy mashed potato). Appetite for more? Look out for truffle-themed evenings and potato pie night, or gather pals to hire the Finnish barbecue hut for a sociable time round the grill.
Time to burn off a few of those calories? The site has an 18-hole discgolf course to tackle, and an indoor heated pool for a few lengths. Actually too stuffed to move? Settle in the reading room or cinema, or take yourself off to the banks of the Bouble river (which passes one side of the 45-hectare park) for an afternoon of fishing.
More options for peaceful days come from the Jacuzzis and the massage sessions; kids wrinkling noses at the idea of such slow-moving time can be packed off to the bouncy castle or the sizeable playground, which has a triple swing, a zipline and – get this – a castle to keep them busy.

Local attractions
With all the eats to be had on site it’s probably a good idea to schedule some active times during your stay. Site staff recommend heading to Ébreuil (20 minutes’ drive) for canoeing and kayaking on the Sioule river or horse rides through the scenic surrounds, or pedalling along the disused railway line at Vélorail de la Sioul (25 minutes). Prefer to hike or ride mountain bikes? They’ve got various ideas for those up their sleeves too.
A hike through the peaks of the Auvergne Volcanoes regional natural park is a possibility too – learn a bit about what’s going on under the surface at the excellent and educational Vulcania amusement park (an hour’s drive), then head over to the nearby Puy-de-Dôme (the highest peak in the area) to walk the Roman path or ride up the cog railway.
Also around an hour’s drive away is Le PAL, a huge theme park packed with rides ranging from fast-moving thrillers to more placid toddler-pleasers, alongside a zoo with regular animal presentations.
