Well, what a time you’re likely to have in Western Australia’s famed wine region. When you stay at BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Busselton, you'll be well placed for getting out and about to all the area's wineries. Your base will be just a five-minute drive away from Australia’s longest jetty and 25 minutes from the largest remaining pure tuart forest on the whole globe too. That’s a lot to entice you right there, and that’s without taking a look at the getaway’s splendid set of facilities… What are those, you ask? Well, as a family- and dog-friendly place, there are facilities aimed at all family members. There’s a dog washing sink area outside for the pups – and for the kids, entertainment comes in the form of table tennis, a swimming pool, a playground, pedal karts and a jumping pillow. Tasty lunch and dinner spreads can be sorted using the camp kitchen facilities (there are shops in Busselton five minutes’ drive away for supplies). If that doesn’t quite tickle your fancy, a fish and chips restaurant and a bakery are 20 minutes’ walk away too. While you're there, pick up snacks to take to the peaceful waters of Geographe Bay, which is a five-minute walk from BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Busselton. Or head into vibrant Busselton, which has a nearly two-kilometre jetty, surrounded by water for fishing, swimming, boating and crabbing, along with a lively cultural and art event calendar and a town museum based inside an old butter factory.

2 bedroom cabin (pet friendly, deluxe, disabled friendly)

Liked: Pool, play area and walking distance to the beach.

Disliked: Beds. The bunks made a loud noise if any one moved an inch. Mattresses were like a concrete slab with a hole in it to allow a spring to push into your rib cage. After first night, with less than 2 hours sleep, I went to Kmart and purchased an inflatable Mattresses to sleep on the floor and the kids chose to sleep on the couches. For the high price they charge to stay in a cabin you would think the beds would be at least suitable and bathrooms could be cleaned of mould.

Local attractions

When you’ve had your way with the gorgeous Busselton coast, Dunsborough (15 minutes’ drive) might be next in line for a beach day. With granite boulders out to sea, it’s a scenic spot indeed, and the town is just as excellent, with a brewery, spas and boutiques. Depart here for a coastal walk past Castle Rock (half an hour) and Point Picquet (25 minutes), all the way to Cape Naturaliste (half an hour) and its whale watching headland. If you have time – or want to return on another day – the Three Bears and the Ngilgi Cave (25 minutes) are further down the peninsula. Guides will take you underground to see the red paleosol layer in the cave. Down Dunsborough Way is the Country Life Farm (20 minutes) too, where kids can give animal feeding a go. However, in the opposite direction, even wilder days might be in store. The Possum Spotlighting Trail (15 minutes) is a wooded trail with chances of spotting kangaroos, and the Tuart Forest National Park (25 minutes) has tuart trees as tall as 33 metres.
