  • Glamping pod near the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Within a 25 minute-drive of award-winning Mwnt beach
  • Four-acre smallholding with private wood-fired hot tub (no bubbles)
Castles, coast walks and cathedral cities… you can see the lot from this top spot. Blaencwm Cottages has a single glamping pod on a four-acre smallholding a short drive away from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the pubs, shops, tearooms, theatre, cinema and leisure centre of Cardigan. Winner of awards, heaped with accolades by travel writers and simply loved by legions of visitors every year, the sheltered bay, soft sands and clear waters of Mwnt beach are a 25-minute drive away: bring binoculars and you might spot some of the dolphins, seals and porpoises who adopted it as their top spot a long time ago. If you want to get closer to the marine life, make the 40-minute trip to New Quay for a sea safari, but if you're more into wave riding than nature watching it's about an hour to the surfers' hotspot on the Pembrokeshire coast, Newgale. Back at base, Blaencwm is a hugely scenic spot to settle down in for a spell, with views of the Pembrokeshire countryside and the Preseli Hills, including a duck pond (with resident ducks) and peaceful surroundings for wildlife watching. The pod has its own shower and toilet, along with a barbecue and mini kitchen (with kettle, microwave and toaster) but please note that bed linen and duvet is only provided for the double bed (if you want to use the sofa bed you'll need to bring extras).

From the manager: Many thanks for your lovely review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Just wondering (for our own education) what let us down slightly on "child friendliness", as many of our guests bring children of all ages with them and have been very happy with this.

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Owners were so friendly and we were greeted with a lovely welcome gift of home made cake, fresh eggs from their chickens and fresh milk. The children absolutely loved waking up and rushing out to see the donkeys both mornings and the garden was also secure and closed off so had no worries of them wandering off. The hut was spotless and supplied with everything we could need and the hot tub was also spotless. The hot tub had been set up ready for us also! Would 100% book again. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Our stay was amazing, nothing was to much to make our little ones happy they were always on hand to let the feed the donkeys. The hot tub was always warm when we needed it and Alison was on hand to give us recommendations in the area! The highlight of our trip was the BBQ hut to hire on site we hired it for the Saturday evening and we were presented with the most beautiful and delicious afternoon tea provided by the establishment with hiring the hut and it was a great end to our rainy day, the children thoroughly enjoyed it to! We are already looking to re book with Blaencwm cottages for June/July time the area in whole was beautiful and great hosts!

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Location, quiet, peaceful, views, hot tub, cosy pod, donkeys. Alison made a birthday cake and decorated the pod, and Steve made sure the hot tub was ready for when we wanted to go in.

Disliked: Nothing we disliked, but only a tiny recommendation - to maybe put a small cover outside by the hot tub so you’re able to hang towels up when it’s cold/wet. Nothing that we disliked though!

From the manager: Thanks for your lovely review and your very helpful feedback. This is our first winter with the hot tub and we are slowly learning what is needed - a covered area for robes is actually next on our "to do" list!

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: The pod was perfect, beds comfy, well equipped pod. The owners had put Halloween Dec's up and left us Halloween sweets, fresh eggs and local milk too. The little details made it special.Scenery was beautiful, very relaxing. Their donkeys were close so we could see them regularly. Wood fired hot tub was a real treat! It was chilly in the evenings but the hot tub kept us toasty. Thank you Steve for getting it ready for us every day, even in a storm. Nothing was too much bother. We stayed end of October and the pod stayed warm all night, at no point were we cold. Great location for seeing North Pembrokeshire/Ceredigion. We will be back 😀

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Local attractions

Building sandy castles on the beach is all well and good, but you can also bag a good half-dozen of the real thing round here: forever swapping hands until it was finally abandoned in 1400, Cilgerran Castle is a 10-minute drive away; it's 15 minutes to the crackingly well-restored Cardigan Castle, and 20 to the 13th-century ruins up at Newcastle Emlyn. If you want to take yourself back in time a little further, make for Castell Henllys, 15 minutes away, where you can experience Iron Age life in a replica roundhouse village. There's more recent history to be explored and experienced at National Trust Llanerchaeron 50 minutes away, where the 18th-century villa and walled gardens are accompanied by a traditional working farm. For thrill rides, high ropes and high-octane activities topped off with pettable furry animals and exotic beasts, the family-friendly trio of Oakwood Theme Park, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities are half an hour, 40 minutes and an hour away. Quieter times can be had wandering the coastline, joining up with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path just north of Poppit Sands 20 minutes away, or strolling the streets and cathedral of ancient St. Davids, officially the UK's smallest city and an hour from the site.
