General
- Small and friendly pub site under three miles from Cheddar
- Extensive range of home-cooked food including veggie and gluten-free
- On the bus route to Cheddar and Wells
If friendly pubs, small sites and a peaceful kid-free vibe are the things that have you stoked on holiday, you'll like The Rodney Stoke Caravan and Camping Park, a small and friendly site behind the Rodney Stoke Inn near Cheddar and Wells.
And if you like to have heaps of choice for your dinner dishes, this is also the place for you: the pub serves a proper mix of food from an extensive a la carte menu. For doing your own dinner, barbecues and self-contained firepits are allowed on site.
It's not far from Cheddar and Wells; if you fancy having a pint in either, leave the car at base and take the bus running to both that leaves close by.
After pints and plates of food it's pleasing to hear that there's a handy bathroom block out by the pitches, upgraded for the 2020 season with toilets and showers.
The Rodney Stoke welcomes dogs as long as they're well-behaved, but no humans under 16, please.

Hi, so pleased you stayed it enlightened my life with your knowledge of bacteria. The other thing is, because you were so observant about everything else, you seem to have neglected to be observant about the site rules on entry, but I suppose any one can make a mistake. I don't want your type on this beautiful site go to the Ritz it will be more fitting to your requirements, especially as you insisted being called by your double barrelled name. Tally Ho Old Chap. |

Local attractions
Smashing Cheddar and its gorge, caves, cheese and ciders is less than three miles away and easy to get to by car; the Wookey Hole Caves are about three and a half miles in the other direction.
Caving and rock climbing are both available – and mighty popular – in the vicinity as well, as is golfing at the Isle of Wedmore and Mendip Springs golf clubs (crazy golf is at Cheddar too).
Also popular nearby is the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare, around 14 miles away: have a day here around the town museum, Helicopter Museum, aquarium and Grand Pier, or to take a paddle steamer on a day trip along the Severn Estuary or Bristol Channel.
Within 30 miles, history and city fans can get to the old areas of Bristol and Taunton as well as historic and lovely Bath for its spas, Roman remains, Jane Austen connections and well-regarded festivals.
