General
- Peaceful family-run site in Dorset 10 minutes’ drive from Poole
- A 20-minute drive from the Jurassic coast; 40 minutes from New Forest
- Pub within walking distance; more places to eat in the local village
From paddling along Poole harbour on a paddleboard to touring the Jurassic coast, there’s much to muck into from Bluebell Meadow Campsite. The peaceful place is 10 minutes’ drive from Poole and 20 minutes from the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (home to the chalk Old Harry Rocks, half an hour’s drive, if that’s top of your list). So, you’ll be well-based to jam-pack your hiatus full of activities on Dorset’s beaches or the surrounding countryside.
Touch down in the pocket of farmland surrounded by trees… this family-run site has been set up by avid campers and therefore, attention has been paid to the clean facilities. There are plenty of friendly faces around to point you in the direction of the golf course, 20 minutes’ walk away, or cycling and hiking ways throughout the countryside.
Perhaps you might be thinking of visiting the New Forest National Park (40 minutes’ drive) for its trails, gardens, museums and wildlife… the Isle of Purbeck (25 minutes’ drive) for its coastal scenery, wetlands, forestry and farmlands… the scenic Arne (25 minutes) at the northern end of the isle… or Poole Harbour (25 minutes’ drive) for its canoeing, kitesurfing and paddleboarding activities.
As for those of you after some good pub grub, there are several in Lytchett Minster and Upton (five minutes’ drive for a rather pretty village with a minster), with the closest a 25-minute walk away. And for a tasty treat or two, there’s also a popular café five minutes’ drive away.

Lovely site, staff, facilities.

Thanks for your comments We are doing all we can to combat the road noise with extra planting of trees, shrubs and laurel bushes. These will take time to grow but they will help in the long term. At your welcome to the site we do explain that we have an operational farm surrounding us and it also says on Pitchup that we are surrounded by farmland. Unfortunately the farmer had to work two of the fields near the site early on Sunday morning which made all the noise but as we live next to the campsite we didn't hear any farming noise late at night. We are sorry if it ruined your Sunday morning. |

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately you booked a tent pitch rather than a campervan pitch, this is clearly shown on the booking pages of Picthup. We only allow campervans, motorhomes, caravans or trailer tents on our hard standing pitches this is part of our operational license, which we have to adhere to in order to operate. This was explained to you upon arrival and it was fortunate that we had a spare hardstanding space for you to use. A note to all if you wish to sleep in a campervan, motorhome, caravan or trailer tent on our site then please book a hardstanding pitch and not a grass pitch. Our grass pitches are for tents only. |

Thanks for the comments. Sorry you did not enjoy your stay, we are doing all we can to combat the road noise with extra planting of trees, shrubs and laurel bushes. These will take time to grow but they will help in the long term. The pitch you were on originally shown was behind our full caravan bays, which help to deaden the noise when there are only a few tents in, but you asked to be moved to an open part of the campsite as you said you want to be away from other people. |

Thanks for the comments. The gates are locked and secured at 10.30pm for the security of the whole site as we are in a secluded rural location, we also have many young families, single mums and single ladies staying with us, for the very reason of our security. We also do this to reduce vehicle movement on site after 10.30pm to allow all campers to have a quiet night without car doors slamming or car lights shining in on their tents. During the day the combination lock is used to make sure that the site is secure for all. This was explained to you upon arrival. I am sure, as a guest house owner you have similar rules at your establishment, that your guest are asked to follow for the good of everyone. |

Local attractions
Beaches, wildlife havens or historical sites first? There are bucket loads of the former, from Bournemouth’s pier and sandy seafront (half an hour’s drive), the three miles of soft sand from South Haven Point to Old Harry Rocks at Studland beach (half an hour) to the shell-shaped Lulworth Cove (half an hour), formed over millions of years … hence the many swimming spots.
You’ll get history and the coast in one shot in Swanage (half an hour), a Victorian seaside resort, and Weymouth (40 minutes) too, thanks to its Georgian seafront. History-wise, there’s also the National Trust’s Kingston Lacy (15 minutes), Corfe Castle (15 minutes), literary Dorchester (25 minutes) or the heritage Poole Cockle Trail (10 minutes) around the old town.
As for that wildlife spotting, well, top spots include RSPB Arne’s nature reserve (20 minutes), Monkey World’s ape rescue centre (15 minutes) and Brownsea Island (15 minutes’ drive and 35 minutes’ boat ride). There’s a nature reserve (along with beaches and harbour) in Christchurch (35 minutes) too or Upton Country Park (five minutes) for woodlands.
To round things off, perhaps you’ll want to fit in Farmer Palmer's Farm Park (10 minutes’ walk), Splashdown's waterpark (15 minutes) too.

Thank you for your comments.
On our website and Pitchup's website it clearly states that we are a secure site without a reception, the gates are on a combination lock for everyone's safety and security. As the owner, who lives 50m away from the site, we have staff available at all times, you waited on longer than five minutes at our gate before we arrived to welcome you and to show you to your pitch.
We are doing all we can to combat the road noise with extra planting of trees, shrubs and laurel bushes. These will take time to grow but they will help in the long term.
The idea of the pitch set up is that you park your van on the hardstanding and use the grassed are to sit or put up an awing. We are a small site with only 5 hardstanding pitches and 20 tent pitches and limited space, so in order to maximise pitch space we have not planted any privacy screens, but this has not been an issue before.
In terms of the facilities that we provide, we have supplied more toilets and showers than most sites of our size. If you wanted a site with all the facilities that you want, then you should have booked at a larger campsite and paid for those facilities.
