General

  • Friendly family-run farm site 20 minutes' drive from Launceston
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast path and Crackington Haven beach
  • Buy fresh eggs and homemade sausages and burgers on site

Farm life… it’s all pony rides, fresh eggs and homemade sausages isn’t it? Well, it is at Pattacott Farm, a friendly family park in Cornwall, 20 minutes’ drive from Launceston.

This is very much an active working farm, keeping an assorted menagerie of rare-breed sheep and pigs, a herd of cattle and free-roaming chickens in the grounds. A couple of ponies also live on site, and the folk that run the place are happy to arrange local lead rein rides for nippers who’d like to have a taster of riding during their stay.

The collection of animals isn’t just for show, of course – they contribute to the range of tasty items available to buy, including eggs for your brekkie and homemade sausages or burgers for your barbecue (which you could serve up in homemade bread from the farm too).

You might fancy a crack at building a campfire as well, and you’re welcome to do so for flame-grilled dinners or to keep you toasty as you gaze up into the starry skies (the heavens often glitter overhead out here as the area is far away from light pollution).

If you’re not planning to live on a diet of burgers alone, extra supplies can be sourced at the shop four miles away or in the supermarkets of Launceston and Bude (20 minutes).

Once essentials are sorted, it’s time to plan for your activities: keep it local with a good rural ramble on the network of footpaths that runs nearby or make the 15-minute jaunt to the coast for more walks, beach days, surfing and legend-learning at Tintagel Castle (25 minutes).

Everything, the whole experience was really worth it, lovely farm and views, sheep were pleasant to wake up to in the morning and the owners were really accommodating, time and effort goes into the preparation and decoration for the tipi/bell tents and we liked it that much we stayed an extra night and will be going back. Highly recommended

Location, owners where amazing. The lamb burger were like something else you need to have them. The sausage and bacon was amazing as well.
We could use fire pits and again you where able to buy wood at the farm.
Facilities where easy access and kept wonderfully clean.
All in all this was a great place with wonderful people.

    Disliked:

This is nothing to do with the campsite and is out of there control but the nearest supermarket we could find was 20-30 mins away.

From the manager...

Thank you for your lovely review . We have already had some great guests . Regarding the supermarket there is a spar at Whitstone that is open 7 days a week that sells a wide range of food and drink open until 9 and a post office / stores at Wainhouse corner that is smaller open 7 days until 7 and also has a good range including local veg . Both these stores are 15 mins . It is true that the nearest large super market is either Launceston or Bude .
We hope to start to stock a few essentials in the near future as well as our delicious produce to help this .

The warm welcoming from owners, the freedom to roam the land with the animals. Almost a farming experience.. kids got to see a lamb born, and fed the lambs, pony ride was a great experience too, catching the pony with sue and brushing her down before a trek up the track and field.
    Fresh produce on site too...10/10

    Disliked:

The bumpy track but owners are fixing it.

From the manager...

So glad that you enjoyed it . It was a pleasure to show the children the lambs and other animals .
Hope you can come again soon .
The lane needs completely re laying really but that isn’t affordable and so we are doing our best to repair the bumps . Thanks you for your understanding and glad it was worth it when you get up the lane and into the meadow.

I loved how rural this site was, compared other campsites that are more suited for caravans. There was plenty of space to pitch away from anyone and was quiet even though it was half term!

    Disliked:

Only issue was I struggled to find the facilities which were situated as I entered the campsite, although was most likely my fault for pitching are the furthest point!
