The original Elysian Fields (as smart sorts who know their Greek mythology will be aware…) was the paradise awaiting those who’d led a particularly virtuous and/or heroic life. No need to prove your own good behaviour if you’re coming to stay at this Cornish version, although it does make a splendid resting place for those who’ve heroically battled with a long drive…
Seven acres of serene space make up the Elysian Fields site, which lies between the little villages of Breage and Ashton and has some smashing scenic views towards Tregonning Hill, as well as distant glimpses of the sea to whet your appetite for a trot down to Porthleven beach, three miles away.
Pitch up here and you’ll also be able to stroll along quiet footpaths to the local villages – both Breage and Ashton have friendly pubs that serve food and where canine pals are welcome to join you. Folk seeking fancier fare can head down to Porthleven’s restaurants, while self-catering types are welcome to stick around and gather round a barbie or campfire; fire baskets are available to hire from reception.
Also on site are a playground, a small shop/off licence (open in high season) and a goodly number of eco-friendly bits and bobs including solar panels, recycling facilities and electric car charging points.

Local attractions
Having gazed out over Tregonning Hill, it's a fine idea to amble over there for a closer look. It’ll take you around 45 minutes of leisurely walking to get to the top for some excellent views over both north and south coasts and plenty of historical info on the old mining pits and war memorial.
Likewise, the beaches you’ve glimpsed from afar look pretty fab from up close too. The sands of Porthleven, three miles away, are the nearest, and there are plenty of others a short drive away, including Praa Sands and Marazion (from where you can take a boat or cross the causeway to St Michael’s Mount).
Arty types may like to spend a day in St Ives, half an hour’s drive away, taking in the exhibits of Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. Perhaps less highbrow but equally entertaining are the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek and the rides and attractions at The Flambards Experience, both of which are around a 15-minute drive away.
