General

  • Working dairy farm 10 minutes' drive from Boscastle and 15 from Bude
  • Spectacular views of the Valency valley and over the sea to Boscastle
  • Barbecues allowed: highly recommended farm shop within 10 mins' drive

Beaches, coastal walks, tin mines, spectacular sea views and a healthy amount of Cornish pasties are what the Trewannion Farm team recommend guests get stuck into while in this part of Cornwall… and then there’s the surfing, the seafood, the moorland roams… and quite possibly quite a lot of fish and chips too…

The friendly owners here are rightly chuffed about Trewannion’s Cornish setting, as it’s only a couple of miles from the old seaside town of Boscastle and set in a mightily peaceful spot with spectacular views across the Valency valley and over the sea to Boscastle. Several stunning coastal walks lead directly from the site; for beaches, Crackington Haven and Bude are 15 minutes’ drive away.

Trewannion is a working dairy farm, built on a slightly sloping area. It welcomes families, motorbikers and dogs, and allows barbecues: pick up your piles of supplies at the much recommended Boscastle farm shop, 10 minutes’ drive from the site.

Great campsite. Very friendly owners and super helpful. Amazing shower after a cold day! Based on a farm so if you go this time of year wear appropriate foot wear. Loved our stay, and we would definitely go back if we came this way again!

The view was great and the owners were nice. Very quiet.

    Disliked:

Reading the reviews it says slight slope. It was not a slight slope. Facilities looked like they had not been cleaned for days. Toilet pan was disgusting (Faeces in pan) and Faeces left on the seat. The shower looked like it had not been cleaned since god knows when with grime around the bottom of the shower.
Only saw one toilet and one shower and that was enough stayed one night was suppose to be 2 nights, left next day. But the views r amazing and a very quiet place. 10 mins away from Boscastle. Hate to say it but won’t be going back there!

Back to basics camping. A farmer's field and access to a loo and shower in the house 24 hours. The field slopes a bit so you'll need chocks in a van but the view is fantastic and it's very peaceful. Showers are £1 each. Lovely hot powerful shower. David the farmer is super helpful and his cows are lovely!

Position was good with lovely views towards Boscastle. The owners were very nice, friendly & helpful. The toilet & shower were clean & well kept.

    Disliked:

Steep field with no chance of getting level (sliding down the bed all night & fridge stopped working as on such a slope). No drinking water on tap (Although bottled water was supplied from the farmhouse & the barrels of water in the field could be drunk once boiled). Only one toilet & shower for the whole site, that was in the farmhouse (not too bad for us as only 3 units on site, but wouldn't have liked it if site was full)

Welcoming owners who do their best for you; thanks. Simple field and it had a couple of metal items to have a fire which is what we liked and we did. This was a quiet place and OK for what it was priced at etc.

    Disliked:

The shower was £1 extra each which was no big deal but I do not recall it being mentioned in the advert. Luckily we had a couple of £1's on us. In the field there was water but not drinking water (as I understand it) which you may be expecting but we had our own anyway. Overal this is priced OK for what you get. Thank you.

Everything. What can I say? Helen made our holiday perfect. I emailed the week before to ask if a quieter pitch was available as I was travelling with my autistic, socially anxious daughter. Helen emailed within 30 minutes to offer a solution and when we arrived the following week her hospitality and generosity surpassed my expectations. We were given the run of their private garden to pitch our tent and make our home for 10 days. The facilities are homely, clean and well stocked. There are two shower rooms with toilets which are within the farmhouse along with a pot wash area.
The facilities may not be plentiful but are quality and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts.
We will definitely be visiting again since the follow up email I recieved telling us about the new site for next year and the inclusion of a quiet pitch.
Thank you for an amazing holiday!

Local attractions

There are many ways to heed the call of Cornwall’s cracking coastline around here. Take a jaunt to Crackington Haven beach for swims, basking and poking about in rockpools, or point your surfboard towards Bude’s beaches for big waves and lessons to help you tackle them. Both are about a 15-minute drive away.

If you'd rather stick to the land side, plot a course to pretty Port Isaac (25 minutes), a traditional fishing village so scenic it's earned stardom as the setting for telly series Doc Martin. Another splendid view worth seeking out is at Tintagel (15 minutes), the seaside castle with links to legendary King Arthur.

A particularly fine way to approach the castle is via the South West Coast Path: pick it up 10 minutes' drive away in Boscastle (after you've had a mosey around the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic and the National Trust museum).

As gorgeous as Cornwall's coast is, it’s worth giving its inland sections a bit of attention too: turn your sights away from the beaches for a bit for trips to Lanhydrock House (40 minutes), the famed domes of the Eden Project (50 minutes) or Poldark Mine & The Cornish Heritage Collection (an hour and 20 minutes).

Must see

  • Tintagel Castle (9.2 kilometres)
  • Rock Beach (25.5 kilometres)
  • Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (30.0 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Tintagel Old Post Office (8.7 kilometres)
  • Lawrence House (19.7 kilometres)
