  • On 30 acres of landscaped park, with views over the Ribble Valley
  • Plenty of activities, play areas, pool, crazy golf, arcade and bar
  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View keeps a considerate eye on many little (free) touches to jazz up your break: the indoor heated pool, the table tennis, the paddling pool for little squirts and the entertainment four nights a week in high season won’t cost you a red cent. Even more enticing for exhausted parents, you can send the heirs and heiresses off to the free kids’ club while you catch a match on Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers (also free), a covered dishwashing area and a launderette, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

Liked: Had pick of pitch
Friendly reception
lots on offer and village is worth the walk for shops and pubs and bars.

Disliked: Some run down areas and rubbish being left
some vans with awnings that have been left up but must have been damaged in storm but not taken down

Liked: Nothing at all to like

Disliked: Absolutely awful, we didn’t stay as pitches were stood in muddy water, the pitches looked onto seasonal pitches with fallen down awnings, dogs wandering around & the bar area was like a rough transport cafe.

Liked: The view.

Disliked: Do not waste your money booking this site. The worst site we have stayed on in the twenty odd years of touring.
Dirty toilets, pitches very small and unkept. No grey waste disposal for motorhomes. The whole place looks rundown.

Liked: Pool was really nice, very big and really warm, kids loved it. The bar area was really nice, felt fresh and modern and the kids loved the Halloween party thrown on the Friday night.

Disliked: The touring pitches are a bit of a state and looks like a forgotten part of the park and at £45 a night its disappointing. The kids park was a mess and not maintained, one swing was missing and just chains hanging down. No hand dryers were working in the men's toilets. The most disappointing part was when I rang on the Thursday to see what was on for the kids double checking the pool would be open, as it was late in the season and seeing if they had any parties on etc, I was told by the lady who answered that she THINKS there is a park for the kids and that there will be something on for them at the bar Saturday and after a few more questions when I said you sound very vague her reply was well its your decision if you want to come and that she only works there 2 days a week! haha so we got there Friday and was told there is a kids Halloween party that night and all the other kids had there fancy dress costumes on when we arrived so very annoyed at that.

Liked: beautiful views! Great place for 2 Yr olds to run around safely.
enjoyed the laid back and friendly approach. pool fantastic.
we were just here for one night and didn't use any bar etc.
wash room and other utilities great

Disliked: it was just a bit tatty, first electric hook up we tried was broken, park fence broken, litter etc.
but not to a huge extent and wd will definitely come back. positives vastly outweighed negatives. x

Camping pod (private bathroom amenities, no pets)

Liked: We stayed in the glamping pod with toilet and shower. The pod was clean and cozy and also had hot running water in the kitchen area. There was an electric kettle, toaster and crockery and cutlery. We took our own camping stove and cooler box. There was also heating so it was lovely and warm in the cooler evenings and mornings. We didn’t need to use the ablution block so can’t comment on this. The pool was clean and a good size and we were able to use it for as long as we wanted, although the site was very quiet when we visited (it was closed between 12 pm and 1pm) changing areas were adequate. Staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Unfortunately the soft play area was closed at the time of our visit. The arcade area wasn’t great with mostly prize machines with sweets and soft toys. We found the pool temperature a little on the cool side, however the air temperature in the pool area was lovely and warm. The site would benefit from an onsite shop.

Liked: The site was beautiful and very quiet. The swimming pool was fantastic.

Disliked: No entertainment for the children, albeit Billy-Jo was great. No WiFi in the buildings or out near the touring pitches. Mobile phone signal was poor so be prepared with downloads and games.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
