  • Glamping pods with kitchenettes and ensuites on a rural farm
  • A five-minute drive from Malpas and 10 to the Sandstone Trail
  • Private patio, bedding, barbecue, coffee machine and welcome pack
Seeking an adults-only weekender in south Cheshire? Take a break near the border between Wales and England at Bradley Hall Rural Escapes, a fab farm with fancy glamping pods to sprawl out in. This quiet site, facing Shropshire in one direction and Clwyd in the other, has views of Malpas village in the distance and greenery all around. The spot’s dotted in pods with amenities aimed at keeping guests fully comfy – they’re heated, have their own private ensuite shower room and toilet, and also come with unexpected extras like hairdryers. These units are furnished with a double bed (linen included) and a sofa bed too, as well as a table and chairs for indoor eats. The kitchenette’s got the cooking essentials sorted – from cutlery to crockery – and java junkies might appreciate that a coffee machine’s on hand if they can’t imagine going a whole weekend without their morning cup... Guests are given a welcome pack with basic food provisions on arrival and a small supermarket is over in Malpas for anything else they might have forgotten to pack. Entertaining the idea of eating alfresco? A barbecue’s outside on the patio with a table and chairs to sit on and stargaze while you grill up grub – set on 106 acres of farmland, light pollution’s pretty minimal at Bradley Hall Rural Escapes. Based in a wildflower meadow, the communal firepit’s another cosy spot to settle down in if you fancy chatting to other travellers around the flames.

Cowslip camping pod

Liked: The pod was new, so clean & fresh. Jane had left us two scones, jam, clotted cream, milk, bottled water, sugar, tea and coffee so we could have a bite to eat & a drink as soon as we got there. It was a truly amazing & beautiful place and we are looking to go there again later in the year. If you want to try Glamping for the first time… GO HERE. Thanks Jane we had a lovely break.

Disliked: Nothing

Cowslip camping pod

Liked: Spotlessly clean. Homely and welcoming. Nice touch having tea, coffee, milk and delicious rocky road cakes. The underfloor heating made the pod cozy. The orientation the pod gave lovely views of sunsets and dazzling sunrises. Definitely recommend this as a place to unwind and recharge.

Local attractions

The site’s a 10-minute drive from the Sandstone Trail for 35 miles’ worth of a long-distance path following – you guessed it – sandstone ridges. Shoot off to Alderford Lake, also a 10-minute drive, for shorter strolls or hotfoot it to Hawkstone Park Follies (around 20 minutes), a protected wooden landscape of cliffs, crags and caves. Switch gazing at rocky structures for gawping at stately buildings with trips to Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (15 minutes), Bolesworth Castle (20 mins) and Beeston Castle (25 minutes); guests could also forage in the forest at Delamere – the biggest section of woodland in the country and 40 minutes’ drive from the site. For activities that are a little more left of field, horse riding centres, cookery schools, candle-making workshops and an ice cream farm are all within a 30-minute drive of the park.
