  • Lively family-friendly park five minutes' walk from the beach
  • Pool, kids' splash pool and sports activities
  • Pub restaurant and takeaway
If you’re a delicate flower, there’s no need to wither in the sea when you fancy a swim – go for a toasty float in this park’s smart indoor pool instead. Withernsea Sands Holiday Park is a lively site on the Yorkshire coast, with great facilities for families, including a kids' splash pool alongside the main pool, kids’ clubs, organised sports activities both in the pool and on dry land, and a pub restaurant and takeaway. In peak season, there’s also an evening programme of rip-roaring entertainment and dancing (the vibe is quieter at other times).

Liked: Playground facilities for the children were good and our pitch was close to the playground so we could keep an eye on them. The food at the onsite restaurant was really good although on the more expensive side. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Food and drinks at the bar were too expensive. Entertainment was the same every night and was of poor quality, barring one night where they had an outside artist attend and play for 1 hour. Swimming pool time restrictions of 45 minute is rubbish as by the time you have got changed and had a short swim, its time to get out. Kids unfortunately were disappointed having to get out after 30-40 minutes. There are very little activities for children to do on the site compared with other sites.

Liked: Camper van with electric pitch:- The beach ! Roughly 8-10 minute walk to a fabulous beach for the dog. We couldn't believe how big the beach was and hardly a soul on it. Both us & the puppy enjoyed our walks very much.. We swopped pitches as the first given was water logged so we were able to pitch up a bit better. Ground was so muddy although not the sites fault I know but what a mess it made ! I can't comment on the entertainment as we don't have kids and the dog couldn't go in so we didn't use it.There looked like there was plenty of daily entertainment going by the leaflet on arrival and my husband said there was a great beer garden. We might stay again but we are on the fence and it would probably only be because of the fabulous beach being so close and reasonable price for 3 nights ! I would kind of recommend but say that it's one of those you need to try for a couple of days and make your own minds up. I imagine in summer it will be a very busy field and the ground obviously better. We like going away out of season and maybe the way it's just a free for all field after rain might put us off !! We shall see ?

Disliked: NO kind of road to the pitches! The field is a free for all. Driving on it and finding your pitch in the mud, REALLY churned it up ! Quite a few vans had to be towed off by tractor because they got stuck ! The electric boxes were unseeable in the dark. The PITCH NUMBERS ARE RIDICULOUS !! VERY difficult to see. The site DEFINATELY needs to attach pitch numbers at the side of the electric boxes and not laid on the grass like a gravestone !!!! Lighting on the field hardly any, the road to the toilet block very, very dark ! Definately need a torch. Toilet/shower block (Ladies) very outdated. Saturday early morning they were filthy, paper all over the floor, cider cans on the cistern, litter etc. Came back from being out around 4pm, still the same. Cleaning slightly lax ?! Facilities/cleanliness marked down for this.

Liked: Hardly anything other than the company!

Disliked: On arrival, no one at reception took 20 mins to find and wait for someone to help us check in! We arrived just after 5pm check in could have been up to 7pm! Didn’t get given our passes for the complex and didn’t get much help in regards to finding our pitch which was water logged, had dog feaces around it (not except-able when you have young children wanting to play outside). Hardly any entertainment was on for the children other than the swimming which was supposedly fully booked! The majority of our family/friends ended up being bitten by what ever flies where about in the restaurant and games area of the complex, there’s flies were also in the shower blocks and toilets even the complex inside toilets, on complaining to the staff on shift there were rude and non compliant! During the 3 night stay overall the touring pitches were unorganised and unhygienic! Very disappointed with our experience, wouldn’t be recommending or revisiting! Full email with pictures sent to their head office!

Liked: Not alot!

Disliked: Rude staff! Not helpful finding pitch. Originally told us to pitch up in a muddy puddle. Eaten alive by flies and bugs in the restaurant. Bit bites up my legs and on my feet. Disgusting. Dog poo near pitch! Won't be returning. Very disappointed!!

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Toilet block filthy and dated, no hot water in the showers, asked to move closer to the toilets as my wife is disabled, was told by reception that they were fully booked but as we left the pitches were still vacant. Not a good experience and would not recommend

Local attractions

The beach at Withernsea is only a five-minute walk from the park, and has miles of clean golden sands. Withernsea itself is a small and friendly resort with a lovely prom, open air theatre and a rare inland lighthouse, which now houses a museum. To the south of the town is Spurn Point, a nature reserve where visitors can spot seals, migrating birds and many unusual plants on the long, narrow spit of shingle. There’s more to see and do around and about: a massive nuclear bunker to explore at RAF Holmpton, a 500-year-old Napoleonic fort at Fort Paull, and thrills and spills aplenty at the nearby Pleasure Island Theme Park and The Deep Aquarium in Hull. Shopaholics should also make time to hornpipe down to Hornsea, where they’ll dance with glee at the bargains to be had in the designer outlet village.
