Spacious pitches

General

  • Peaceful site in Benniworth village, 15 minutes' drive from Louth
  • A 40-minute drive from the beaches at Skegness and Mablethorpe
  • Two-acre smallholding with resident alpacas, pigs and chickens

Looking for a peaceful base for Lincolnshire larks? Homestead Fields Caravan and Camping, in the village of Benniworth, is a quiet smallholding site that should fit the bill.

Country, coast and town trips are all easily sorted here – this two-acre park is on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with some top walks and bike rides to be had pretty much as soon as you set foot outside the park. The east coast seaside resorts of Skegness, Ingoldmells and Mablethorpe, meanwhile, are all around 40 minutes' drive away. The genteel Georgian market town of Louth is also close by (15 minutes), while the grand old city of Lincoln is about half an hour away.

If you’ve still got energy left after that little lot, stroll along to the local pub in 40 minutes or so for dinner (if you're hungry, drive it in five instead). Rather spend some time on site? Stick around to light up a barbecue and make pals with some of the site's resident alpacas, chickens and pigs.

Dogs are welcome to join you on your jaunt here – there’s a dog walking area where they can stretch their paws, as well as a free wifi connection for folk who’d like to catch up with the outside world while their pup investigates the sights and smells of their new surrounds.

Please note

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

Dogs are not allowed in the on-site accommodations.

Folding Camper with awning. Very nice clean, well kept site. our pitch was on a bit of a slope but most of them are flat. (This was an advantage when we had a heavy thunder storm, The water flowed under our unit and pitch didn't get boggy!)
Toilets kept clean and well supplied. Washing up sink with hot water under a shelter next to toilets. Excelent WiFi, I even managed a Zoom meeting!
Lots of places to explore within half hour drive - Mablethorpe for seaside, Lincoln or Louth for shopping and sightseeing, also lots of pretty villages in the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB.
Dean was very helpful especially when we had to pack up early due to gale damage to our awning.
On our list for a return visit next year!

    Disliked:

I feel that lack of showers is putting people off longer stays. most people on site were only staying for 3 or 4 days.

Nice small friendly site, able to pitch close to toilet block which was excellent as weather was dreadful when we arrived. Also liked that all pitches had electric hook up with free WiFi.

    Disliked:

Site does need showers, but we knew this before we arrived so not an issue. But would love to stay for longer in future and these would be required.

Local attractions

Wanders around the Wolds start at the site gate. Hiking across the flat landscape should be pretty easy for most walkers: strolls up from Benniworth to Donington or Bain along the old railway line are highly recommended. For walks around a man-made landscape instead, head down to Walled Garden Baumber (10 minutes' drive), a kooky plant haven where green-fingered guests can also treat themselves to a cream tea.

Top towns in the local area include Louth (15 minutes) with its Georgian architecture and Spout Yard park, and Horncastle (15 minutes) for bargain-hunting on the high street's many antique shops. Lincoln (30 minutes) is another must-see stop on any trip here: head to the castle for medieval history or climb up to the cathedral's viewing gallery and admire the cityscape below.

For kid-pleasing days, try the cute animals at Rand Farm Park (15 minutes) or the bigger beasts on display at Woodside Wildlife Park (20 minutes). Family-friendly beach time can also be arranged – head to Mablethorpe or Skegness (both 40 minutes) if you want to feel the sand between your toes.

Must see

  • Lincoln Cathedral (25.0 kilometres)
  • Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace (25.1 kilometres)
  • Lincoln Castle (25.1 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Tattershall Castle (24.5 kilometres)
  • Gunby Hall Estate: Monksthorpe Chapel (29.2 kilometres)
