General

  • Peaceful park with spectacular views
  • Less than half an hour's drive from Lincoln
  • Fresh eggs for sale from resident hens

Bells, whistles and noisy nightclubbing are not what you'll find on the menu at Larkrise Holiday Campsite in Lincolnshire. But you'll be able to sample first-rate vistas, wide open space, peace, quiet and pitches on a huge grass field – and the freshest of eggs for sale from resident hens. It's enough to make one get up very early.

Larkrise is in an agreeably rurally location but only about a 25-minute drive from Lincoln, a mile from the pubs and food shops of the local village and also a mile from the butcher, café and produce of the award-winning Uncle Henry's Farm Shop (we'd bet a year's worth of Lincolnshire sausages that littlies will love the tractor and tyre swings at this last).

As well as the huge pitching field, Larkrise comes with showers and loos, chemical loos, fresh water, chemical disposal, optional electric and picnic tables.

Please note

Minimum spacing of 4 metres between pitches.

Tents are not accepted at this park.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Single-sex bookings of 2 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The shower facilities are closed. Guests will need to use their own facilities.

The toilet facilities are closed. Guests will need to use their own facilities.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Although the toilet facilities remain closed, fresh water and the disposal point will be available for guests.

Great hospitality from the oweners. Just what we needed being in a group of 5 caravans. Had the space to socially distance but still be close enough to one another.
Free range chicken eggs were amazing.

    Disliked:

Despite phone call and calling at house no response from owners. Rubbish stacked around dustbins. Toilets/showers closed as by their own admission didn't want extra cleaning due to Corona virus. Stench caused by nearby farmer spraying liquid manure onto fields every day of our stay causing us to leave early.

From the manager...

We were not aware clients had knocked at door of house.Yes there was some rubbish near the bins but the area was cleared regularly. The site details on pitch.up show toilets and showers are closed at the moment. We have no control over a farmer injecting his own land with fertiliser for a few days ..about 1/3/1/2 mile away from where caravan was pitched. As customers own photo of campsite shows this was not even visible from the pitch. The picture which he says is lorries delivering at the campsite entrance actually shows the farm-house entrance. The item he says is a tank appears to be a generator.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location. Comes fully equipped with all you need; even logs for the log burner.

We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.

I would highly recommend The George pub located in the centre of the village as the food is amazing!

    Disliked:

My only small quibble was the frying pan which has seen better days and needs replacing.

Lovely quiet site with lots of space. Nice little honesty shop with some local produce. The eggs from the farm are amazing. The site manager was lovely and very helpful. We had a lovely relaxing stay except for a couple one night playing music till late but the manager had a word with them (there’s always one on every site and it’s not the sites fault)

    Disliked:

Only slight issue was a dog that came on the field a couple of times off lead (Possibly site owners dog ?) with 2 young girls who had no control over it. It was a lovely little dog and not aggressive but it was running up to the van/awning and our dog is very scared of other dogs so this really wound her up and made her jump up when we were trying to get her to rest after a surgery and we were worried she could injure herself.

    Peaceful spacious site.

    Disliked:

Toilets not been open and paying high price due to bank holiday there should have been a reduction due to the toilet situation and as only a few on the site the toilets should have been open as not hard to clean. I have been on 5 sites in 7 weeks and toilets we're not a problem if I had known not open when I booked I would not have booked it. Therefore not value for money.

The beautiful countryside that surrounds the level site, the quiet and tranquility, the on site farm shop, and the attentive gentleman ( nice guy ) who dealt with us on arrival, water taps were spot on and bins, we used this site as a 3 nights stop over on way bk from Suffolk to Leeds I never realised how nice the area is ! will return ...

    Disliked:

I cannot find anything to dislike, I would suggest a screen of some type around the toilet disposal as everyone can see you disposing, I simply believe it's a private matter lol, But certainly NO dislikes

Local attractions

To Lincoln first, we think, for castle, cathedral, Medieval Bishop's Palace and the two million or so objects of The Collection which now includes the Usher Gallery.

Whisby Nature Reserve and Hartsholme Country Park, RAF Waddington, RAF Scampton and Cadwell Park motor racing circuit are all just outside Lincoln, while more speedy days out are at Gainsborough's Blyton Circuit and the hair-raising skydiving of Hibaldstow Airfield. Hang gliding is nearby at Trent Valley Gliding Club.

History and heritage hunters in the region have quite a bit more to pick from, from the fifteenth century timber-framed stronghouse of Gainsborough Old Hall to grander piles in the region like Elsham Hall and Normanby Hall.

The four-sailed Mount Pleasant Mill at Kirton-in-Lindsey is a pleasant sight for photos; afterwards, take one of the Kirton-in-Lindsey walks north or south from the market place. A garden centre for another wander is at Kirton Lindsey Retail Park in Station Road.

Finally, the really determined heritage hunters should have at least a day picking through the treasures of 375 antique dealers at Hemswell Antiques in Gainsborough, and foodies will squeal at the range of produce available at the Pink Pig farm shop in Scunthorpe.

Must see

  • Lincoln Castle (25.5 kilometres)
  • Lincoln Cathedral (25.5 kilometres)
  • Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace (25.6 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Maister House (36.5 kilometres)
  • Clumber Park (37.0 kilometres)
