Δεν μου άρεσε: Cost of electric is extortionate. Do not go if you're not prepared to put £10 electric on every single day. We only had a small TV, caravan kettle and caravan toaster in use, the heating was put on in morning and night and it took £10 every single day, I don't put anywhere near that amount on for a 3 bed semi at home!!!!!! The electric will turn off as soon as it runs out too no matter what time of day it is, ours went at 7am which with 2 small children trying to keep warm first thing in a morning is ridiculous, another person's went off at 10pm with no one on site to sort so they had to ring the owners who came down and put it on. We stayed here in summer and only paid £2 for electric and we have the exact same things running in the caravan. We ended up cutting our holiday short as I was not prepared to put any more electric on after already forking out £25 in electric for just 2 full days :o . When I spoke to the owners about this I was met with " well all other sites are doing it increasing their prices" like that made it ok!!! People are leaving their heatings on all night so there putting up electric prices, well we wasn't leaving our on, we turned it off at night, I switched my electric caravan kettle for my gas hob one to conserve electric and it still went at £10 daily, why should I have to pay extortionate electric prices to make up for other people using heating all night when I was trying to conserve my electric. Not right at all.....
They want £45 before you've even stepped foot through the gate which they don't tell you about. £20 for key fob (refundable once returned) and £25 for electric.
The caravan site itself is lovely and clean, would be nice if they showed the same amount of cleanliness in the small grubby place you have to empty your toilet, no hot water to wash you hands and you feel like you need a shower coming out of there. Worst one I've been too so far and completely let's the site down.
In all honesty I feel completely ripped off and I will not be visiting again, paid nearly £200 for 4 nights but cut it short as could not keep up with the electric and it is soo not worth it.
We ordered pizza and chips from the restaurant too as last summer when we eat inside the restaurant it was amazing. So I don't know what happened or whether it was because it was a take out but it was floating in grease, it felt like I'd drunk a full bottle of sunflower oil 🤢, and the pizza was just slop. So if you are going to the restaurant I would advise you eat in rather than take out as they seem to take wayyyyy more pride in their food with diners eating in.
Thank you for leaving your poor review which you said on your departure among other things that you would be leaving. . From our records this is your second visit to us. The system of a barrier fob and electric card was operational at the time of your first visit so we are slightly confused when you state 'they don't tell you about that'!
In the summer the price per unit for electric was 22p. Obviously, lights, heating etc are not required as much. As a business, just like residential, the cost of electric has increased dramatically and since the summer our new supplier has increased the cost per unit to 42p. It goes without saying as the weather has got colder and the nights are darker much earlier people are using their heating and lights more frequently along with other electrical goods including laptops, mobile phones etc especially with 3 children . I would like to stress that the electric on your pitch is solely for your use and you most certainly are not paying for anyone else 'leaving heating on all night' as you also stated.
The deposit we take is not actually taken, but left pending, we only take what has been used on day of departure for electric and the fob deposit is reversed in full. The £25 you say you used for electric was actually £20 as I gave £5 of that without taking any money for it as a gesture on the Sunday mroning. The rest you did use in 3 days on your pitch as the electric reading clearly showed.
The Elsan point that was close to your pitch was indeed grubby with rather a lot of dog poo that had not been picked up as I have been told by another guest your 3 dogs were lose and not kept on a lead as stated in our park rules and one in fact attacked her dog when she was walking past. That is a reason we ask all dogs are under control on leads.
I will pass your comments to the restaurant regarding the food but cant' quite understand where 'floating in grease' has come from as our pizzas are oven baked and get rave reviews.
