Great views, pretty shop and bar.

There are large groups of young adults all over this site. Although the advert states otherwise, it is obviously ignored.

I booked for 2 nights to take my young kids on a camping break. Had to repeatedly ask groups to stop swearing, every other word was f*&k. There's no strict pitches, it's more a free for all, which lends itself to little clubs opening up all over the place.

This was evident at night, when it turned into lots of alcohol fuelled parties, or just one massive one on the second night. I had to complain both nights for the site staff to sort it out as People were climbing on cars,drink driving to the toilets or just urinating over the field was bad enough, but the constant shouting, swearing and screaming from the drunks was appalling. This obviously woke up any babies and children, meaning you had screaming kids in the mixer at 1am too.
Then throw in car alarms and music with a splash of mobile phones, anyone managing to sleep needs medical attention.

Obviously being asked to keep the noise down just annoyed them, and they got worse, showing complete lack of decency and respect.
I gave up completely at 1am and just packed up the tent in the dark, and drove home as neither my kids or I had slept in 2 days. Really awful experience. Would not recommend.

Great view, relaxed rules, great location as a base

Weekends (with music events at bar) are chalk and cheese to weekdays. Weekdays relaxed with lots of space for tent. Weekends cramped with at least 5x more tents - felt like a festival. Utilities can't cope - there was no loo paper (male or female) over 2 days and same for hot water for washing up (there is a finite amount of hot water, which is fine for small number of campers, but runs out very fast when there's lots). If you're bothered about noise (we weren't), you can here the music from the barn until late, so if you have smaller kids, you might want to go further along the field, but then you'll be further away from the utilities. In any case, everybody gets the countryside rooster around 530am!

Showers were good, but only 4 of them, so always a queue at the weekend. A £1 coin gets you 4 mins of water, and there's a nice divided bench area in each shower with plenty of hooks so you can keep things dry.

The cafe and shop seems to be open at least 9-5 every day. Staff very nice. There's wifi at the cafe, but it doesn't stretch to the field and mobile data is fairly patchy.

We stayed for a week and had a great time - my comments above are only to help with a couple of tips (eg take a loo roll!), but I would definitely recommend this site. It's nice and high, which means you get great views, and a windbreak sometimes comes in handy. The site is situated nicely with only 15/20mins drive in either direction to Buxton/Bakewell.

Views, staff, clean toilets and showers

Field has no flat spots, it's at the top of a valley with no protection from the wind. Showers are charged at £1 for 4 minutes. Farm shop isn't great. They definitely like to fill the field with as many people as the can. Any playing for the space for the kids disappeared quickly. 100+ people 5 toilets.

Absolutely fantastic campsite. We had a lovely mix of quiet camping in the week and then the fun of the live music at the weekend, which you can choose to partake in or stay on the quiet campsite, Elvis was mega!! The pitches are really generous with wonderful views. The facilities are great, plenty of loos and the showers were really good with plenty of hot water. You could tell the camp had been busier over the weekend but we always bring a spare loo roll with us! Super close to Monsal Trail and short drive to Mam Tor etc. The Farm Shop/Cafe is great but we also took advantage of the pub a short walk down the hill! Staff were all super friendly and helpful. We loved it so much we stayed an extra night!!

Helpful staff, any noise was acceptable and good-humoured. Loved the Elvis tribute. We had a fabulous time.

Campsite got very busy at the weekend starting Friday evening with some noisy and drunken campers This overstretched the facilities - toilets, showers, wash-up sinks

the site is lovely, very family orientated, the kids loved it. The evening entertainment is a fantastic idea. Elvis was amazing! We will be back!

Yes the entertainment was £10pp (Under 12s free) on the Saturday - but it was worth every penny! Camping wasn’t expensive you can’t expect everything for nothing!

Farmer have diversified to survive! So Back British Farmers - stay on their campsites, enjoy the premium entertainment, eat the farm food and drink British Beer!!

Absolutely nothing. I will be back.
