I visited for my first solo camping adventure and the site is great. David gave me a map and list of the local area which was really helpful. The facilities were clean, communal area really nice and WiFi is a good bonus.
It’s well situated with lots of dog friendly walks, I did the 8 mile long route which was pretty flat and easy to walk (download OS maps as it was a bit tricky to follow without a map) via Welshampton with nice pubs along the route.
There is a shorter 45 minute walk into Ellesmere too

The site is hilly so lots of the pitches were uneven and my pans were sliding off the stove but not much they can do about that!
Also no phone signal, again not the sites fault, but download maps ahead of time

Amazing place to stay, great amenities, clean. The hot tub booking was 10/10 perfect place for a relaxing weekend. The owners are keen to help with everything!

I love this place!🥰👌 tranquil, quiet, peacefull. Nature so lush🍀 little rabbits running around tents.
So many beautyfull walks next to the lakes, canal. Amazing rides for cyclists.
Pubs near with very good foods and drinks.
Facilities always clean. They even have community area!!!🤩 there you can find comfy sofas, dining area, fridge/freezer, microwave, ketle, tv, etc.
We coming back here for 4 years now. Other people say the same, coming back for years.

Loved this site. The views, the peace and quiet, closeness to a beautiful lake walk, the horses in the next field, the ‘love shack’ and the friendly owners. Plus a bonus being adults only (as teachers) and dog friendly.

The toilets - wouldn’t stop us returning but they need to be updated to be more private, maybe full doors instead of saloon style, and an outside door that shuts. Just an idea as we loved the site.

Beautifully kept site, amenities all clean and fully functional. Great access for walking.

Only downside - toilets could be a little more private E.g. Full doors on cubicles as in a busy area of site. There are flat pitches but some are quite sloped.

Gave us a map and showed us local walks and highlighted pubs and places to see.

Super clean facilities, lovely hot showers, tidy spacious pitches and like minded adults with their dogs just away for a chilled weekend. The walks are lovely, right on a small lake for a 40 min ish walk around or you can do a further walk into town which we did and was about an hour each way but the best part for us was that you could make the walks longer if you wished.

The kettle and fridge in the communal area were a surprise and very welcomed!

All in all, we will definitely be coming back.

Lovely location, clean toilets and comfortable shared living area. Appreciated the map and recommendations of location attractions upon arrival. enjoyed the walk along the canal into Ellesmere.

Single track roads to get to the site, so take care and drive carefully.

The communal area is fantastic, and the main part of the site is really beautiful. The walks you can access directly from the campsite are a massive plus - the area is stunning.

First time camping here and my husband and I were checked in by Ingrid. She started off by giving us a list of local walks along with info about the communal area - all great. She then proceeded to tell us that there are multiple fields for camping, and that we can choose where we want to pitch.

We then got in the car and tried to access the non-electric field through the main site, but the gate was too small for a car to fit through. So we drove all around the main site again incase we had missed somewhere, but we still couldn’t find a way on. We ended up finding a pitch with no electric point (that we could see anyway) right at the end of the main site.

After setting up, we went out for a couple of hours and not long after we had returned Ingrid and her husband parked their van by us as they were doing the rounds with fire pits and logs. Ingrid got out and we thought she was going to ask if wanted a fire pit, but instead asked us if couldn’t find a place to pitch on the other fields as we were set up on an electric pitch.

We apologised saying we didn’t realise it was electric as we couldn’t see any sort of hookup point and that we didn’t know how to get onto the main field, but before we could properly finish our sentence she cut us up and said, ‘well I did explain’ in a really abrupt, rude manner.

We were taken aback by the way she spoke to us, and again we apologised saying we couldn’t see any sort of electric point so didn’t think it was an electric pitch. She then said bluntly ‘it’s ok, I’ll let my husband know’, got back in the van and drove off.

It really put a dampener on it for us.

We only found out how to access the other fields by someone else staying there the next day (you have to leave the site and turn further up the road, which Ingrid did not tell us, otherwise we’d have done it!)

Another thing to note, there are only two toilets and two showers for men, and two toilets and two showers for women, each with one small sink. It is in no way big enough to accommodate the size of the site. One shower had a much smaller area to get changed in than the other so it was a bit of struggle to get dressed, and having a small sink to try and clean teeth/wash face was pretty impossible as you were in the way of people wanting to wash their hands.

All in all, if you’re staying part of the main site, it’s beautiful, quiet and the area is fantastic. I just think Ingrid is abrupt and we found her to be quite rude. It’s put us off returning.
