We recently spent two nights at Bird Rock Campsite on a non-electric pitch and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was relaxed – you simply pitch up in a field – and there was plenty of space between campers. Even when it got busy, it never felt crowded or noisy.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We received a warm welcome at reception, and the camp manager always seemed to be on hand if anything was needed.
Facilities are fairly simple: two toilets and one shower per sex, plus a washing-up room with sinks and fridges. Although they’re a little dated and dusty, this is a working farm and we didn’t mind at all. We never had to queue for the facilities, although we tended to shower in the evenings.
At £25.50 per night, the price seems in line with other sites at the moment. The scenery is stunning, with mountains all around, and there’s plenty to do nearby. We enjoyed a lovely walk in the valley to see Castell y Bere, and the next day we took a trip on the charming Talyllyn Railway.
Overall, Bird Rock Campsite is a peaceful, scenic spot with a laid-back feel – perfect if you’re looking for somewhere simple and friendly to enjoy the beauty of Wales.

Just to clarify, the farmer was taking water from the river and not disposing of anything into the river
