Access to some great walks was great.

Onsite pub was dated and the shop wasn’t well stocked.

Clean and Tidy site

Very abrupt staff. After travelling 300 miles for over 4 hours to be greeted at the check in for using the wrong door (no directions on email where to go or signs at the park) with a very rude welcome.

At check-in repeatedly told not allowed to sleep in my van (not a camper) even though I explained I had 2 tent pitches booked for the 3 of us.
Then repeatedly told not allowed radios or to make any noise after 10pm. After explaining our group were travelling for a charity hike and had been awake since 4am therefore very unlikely to be making much noise. Unfortunately I and other members of the group were kept awake gone 11pm with others playing music and children running around.
At one point a child had ran through my pitch hitting a guide line almost tearing a hole in the tent. The other members had a similar experience with their tents

The other half of our group had a random person pitched several metres away.

Having stayed in many campsites over the years whilst hiking I have to say this is probably the worst experience I have had. Could have well been a one off incident but extremely disappointed.

Absolutely beautiful campsite, great drive to the site, miles of beautiful walking on the site and the Lowther estate. Fantastic base for cyclists and walkers. Great staff, so friendly and helpful.

No dislikes at all.

Stayed in the pod which is unfurnished but no issue as was on advertisement. Thought would have been cold but was very warm

Not a dislike really but after doing hiking and legs aching found the toilets a little far haha. But other then perfect

Organised and friendly staff, lovely bakery onsite and lots of camping essentails in the shop in case you've forgotten any. Also basic food items.
Squirrel Inn was closed on our arrival day (Wed) but open Thur & Fri although we didn't try it.
The river going through the park was wonderful for paddling, exploring and catching tadpoles.
Size of pitch was good and clmose to the play area and basket ball court which was excellent.
Plenty of showers and toilets so never a queue - mostly very well looked after (see disliked below). Showers were hot and plenty of space for dishwashing with hot water. Also a family shower which can fit various age children in with parents and a cubicle with a bath in both the mens and ladies.

Our pitch was on a slope - had to turn the tent round a different way to try and make the most of the least sloping area. Looking at the other pitches most weren't like this - we had the worst by far!
Toilet block wasn't cleaned for 36 hours - I did report this when we were there as there was a very dirty toilet for that amount of time. I get the impression this was a glitch and they were normally cleaned twice a day with two checks in between.

Site was lovely

The pitches are quite close together, the shop didn't stock essential items including bread and it's a bakery! No food available at the pub

Location was perfect, the castle walk was great stopped off at the nearby pub the punch bowl which served amazing food.

All Staff were so lovely and helpful especially the squirrel inn pub staff.
Site was clean and quiet what more do you want

Everything was good no complaints at all but For the price I would have expected better maintained pitches and shower/ toilet facilities.
