It would have been handy, but not vital to have a shop on site. We did miss the lack of a leisure centre with swimming pool. There is no where is the Penrith area where a swimming pool is easily available. As far as I can see, no holiday park in the area has one.
Penrith Leisure Centre has very limited 'public' swimming sessions and not at convenient times. There are a number of outdoor pools, but they are very restricted opening hours and not available in the winter for obvious reasons. Centre Parcs is not open to non-residents.
Although a significant investment, such a facility would set Lowther Holiday Park apart from every other similar place in the whole North Lakes and Eden Valley area, would be an additional enticement for people to 'buy' a holiday home there and would be a positive addition to the local community as well which again, doesn't really have a 'private' leisure facility.
