Really nice campsite - facilities were really clean and worked well.

Really quiet and tranquille location but only a 5 minute drive into largs if you wanted to go to a bar or restaurant or pick up any groceries.

5 star - would stay again.

Our third visit to Gill Head, will always be our go to for staying in the lakes! The location is brilliant, views of Blencathra are just the cherry on top.

Top field overlooking Blencathra can be quiet soggy and boggy but we made it work and luckily it drys out fast after a day of sun!

Amazing site views, amenities and vibe! Waking up in the morning with a cup of coffee watching the sun rising, mist clearing surrounded by the mountains around the campsite is such a surreal and peaceful experience. Deffo will come back whenever in the Lakes

Spacious site, good facilities, clean and plentiful loos and showers, indoor rec room for when weather was poor.

Proximity to A66 so constant traffic noise (tho admittedly our fault for not checking location more closely.)
Lack of off-road walks from campsite.
Loads of midges so couldn’t really sit outside in the evening.

A beautiful site with excellent facilities and a lovely atmosphere. Great grass pitch for our tent with plenty of space. We really enjoyed our stay!

A well looked after site with good facilities including two toilet blocks, communal room with tables, chairs. couches, tv, microwaves, kettle & 2 large fridge freezers.
Next to communal room, undercover, are further seating areas on picnic tables and work surfaces, next door to that, again undercover, is the washing up area again with work surfaces, all very useful, particularly if the weather is bad and you dont particularly wish to do cooking by the tent.
Reception has small shop selling basic provisions.
There is childs play area and recycle bins etc.
Showers are great, lovely, hot and included in the cost, toilet facilities very clean and tidy, there is a laundry room onsite.
We have stayed here a few times both camping, at the top camping pitches beyond the hedgerow as this provides stunning views across the peaks including Blencathra, we watch the beautiful sunsets and sunrises, the views just take your breath away, we've stayed in one of the pods too, again very clean & provide warmth, comforts and the basics. Will continue to return as offers everything we need and great location for many areas in the North of the Lakes.

Quite time after 10 pm did not apply 3 nights out of 6 it went on way after mainly teenagers from Duke of Edinburgh or such like, one night some adults in the communal area until 12.20 am not even euro finals night.
